Choose Your Own Adventure: The Whole Enchilada

Everyone from my 9 year old through my 13-year old love reading these!! Even my 20- year-old remembers them fondly. Nice to have the set at home instead of running to the library every-other-day 😝 I did get rid of the one on zombies, since I didn’t think it was appropriate.

These were gifted to kids ages 8-12 and they loved them. The stories are interactive and allow them to choose the actions the characters take so they can then see the consequences. Beautifully illustrated covers and well worth the price for 40 books! A great find!

These are them—a bunch of the Choose Your Own Adventure books. Wanted to get them for my kids.Now I was never too much into *particular* choose your own adventure authors as a kid, so I can't claim to care much whether this author or that one is included or excluded in the set.Quality seems to be okay, contrary to some older reviews.However, I do have two concerns, one major and one minor:(1) The major concern: Now on the back cover of each book, there is a "map" of the "solutions" to the story, i.e. you can see just how many endings there are and how they play out, and where the dead ends lie, etc. This takes about 80% of the fun out of the reading IMHO. These aren't mazes, they're stories. Don't give me the "solutions" beforehand or tell me how many there are, sheesh.(2) The minor concern: They arrived loose in a box, yes Amazon was the seller. No collection boxes, no wrapping, just stacked up and tossed into a cardboard box, loose. For this price, I'd expect AT LEAST some shrink wrap to protect them on the journey and ideally 1-2 cardboard gift boxes so that when you put them on a shelf you can keep them organized and together. Again, sheesh.

I just received the set and I'm a more than a little disappointed that it doesn't contain many of the stories I remember. On closer inspection it only contains books written by R. A. Montgomery, whereas the original first book and many of the follow-up books were written by Edward Packard. Also, later there were several other authors, who are also not included in this set. I'll probably keep the set but I wanted to warn others to check which authors wrote the stories you remember because you may be disappointed depending on your particular memories.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my 12 year old brother. he absolutely loves these books and is always borrowing them from the library so he was ecstatic to own then himself now. He is already read a good number of the books a few times trying to choose different choices each time.

If you remember these books as a child, do yourself a favor and get this complete set of epicness!!!!!

Purchased this for my son. He really likes all of the different selections he got. I definitely recommend this for young readers or read along with your children.
