Does not work
I spent over a hundred dollars and scores of hours chasing a problem. The culprit all along was this foreign made piece of junk. Does not function as a check valve. After setting up an experiment using myself as a pressure switch and a simple relief valve as the unloader it became obvious that air escaped in reverse through this "check valve" as easily as it entered. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!! Do not buy!

An economical fix for an IR compressor
I used this on my Ingersol Rand air compressor instead of paying a lot more fro their OEM type fitting. Easy to install into the tank. Their old fitting can be reused on top of this one by cutting the bottom of it off right below the pipe threads (where the check valve part is) and then the safety valve is still there and the unloader fitting will reconnect with out any adapters. Note that this check valve doesn't have a provision for a safety valve made into it and it's tapped 1/8 npt in the side and the IR valve is a flair. That's why I cut and reused part of the old original valve. I saved $40 to $50 doing this and everything fit back into place.

Great, especially for the price!
The unit is of robust construction. The internals appear clipped together which allows future cleaning or disassembly. The brass threads are well cut, and the sealing stripe is thick enough to work. Everything seals gas-tight out of the box. The plastic bits have no issue with hot gas and appear to be made of the right stuff. The 1/8 NPT port on the side is easy to access and unobtrusive for those not needing an unloader hookup. I don't know why the picture shows an unthreaded plug sticking way the side. The valve body is large in diameter and discharges to the side. As advertised, this model is best used in a tank rather than a pipe or fitting. It does, however, work just fine in any orientation. At low flow rates there is an audible fluttering of the valve (no issue). It is a fairly flow restrictive design, but it seals well and does the job. I recommend this to anyone needing a 1/2 npt check valve for a tank.

Poor description or Qc
Ordered what I hoped was 1/2 not male to not female got a not to compression fitting on the out had to “make it work” with spare tube and convertersIt works but not what I hoped for

Woked okay. would NOT recommend it.
Male thread was undersized and bottomed out before tightening. Was able to make it work with extra pipe tape.

Perfect fit and makes the compressor work like new
I purchased this to fix my older Jeannie Air compressor that had developed a pressurized leak out the Overload release valve. I had been living for a few years with a rag wrapped around valve and vise grip clamped to minimize the leak but after being annoyed with it pushing oil out crankcase I decided to find a solution and this was it. I really needed the 3/4 thread into tank and 1/2 thread for air tube which is else where on amazon but even with the 1/2 to 3/4 reducer fitting still was cheaper and faster. Highly recommend

Nice quality
Used in a air compressor build. Good threads and fit well.

Delivered Not the item as described or shown
The picture in the amazon listing shows the correct part and the description matches the picture. However the part that is delivered has 1/2" Male NPT x 1/2" Female COMPRESSION

Poor quality control
Had to repair this. Metal filing were left in the valve after machining.
