You have to fully remove the paper strip without tearing it, otherwise it won't work at all.The maker doesn't tell you, but you have to raise the battery carriage to properly remove the little red strip that interupts the connection between the battery and the contact. That strip of paper is necessary to preserve the battery until you're ready to use it, but it's hard to remove. In fact, I don't think it can be removed without raising the battery carriage/illumination assembly. After raised, it's possible to pull the strip out straight. If it's not pulled out straight, it tears in half with the connection still interupted.From the back you'll see a small ledge of the carriage that can be *carefully* levered up one side at a time. Once the battery carriage is raised, you'll be able to pull out the red strip. Then, of course, you have to lower the carriage back into the housing before installation. Then all you need is sunshine to charge and darkness for the light to initiate. You're welcome.

Needed a light to light my American flag without having a ground light. Tried multiple type many would get caught on the flag and either rip the flag or get destroyed by the flag. This light gives more light than others I've tried.really easy to install on a deck post, Low profile (nothing the flag can get caught on) , Brighter light than others I've found and tried. installed in fall before the cold MN winters and has upheld thru the terrible conditions.

I initially purchased 4 of these to put on top of my 4 ft black iron fence. They worked well so I purchased 2 more. I used double sided tape to secure the lights to the top of the 1 " square top rail at midpoints of the 8 ft sections. My object was to lightly outline the fence adjacent my driveway turn in and they do a good job on that. The winter days are short now and we get cloudy and rainy skies. The lights usually make it through the night when the day before is not too overcast.

Not only did these lights take forever to get, but they are not worth the money. One is already broken because of the less than desirable plastic and the rest only come on for less than 2 to 3 hours at best if at all.

These are cheap and not surprisingly, feel cheap. When you take them apart and look at the battery they look someone made these as a school project, and very very little light. Would not but again, but if you are looking for dim lights, they will probably be ok

These lights work very well for lighting up areas along walls and stairs. The construction is a relatively cheap plastic, but they seem to last. I’ve had some up over three years in a challenging environment and most at still running.They are by far the brightest of the solar light stair mounted ones I’ve purchased. If you want a decent light, these are the ones to purchase.

My experience has been very poor with these lights. I bought two in December 2017 and did not get them installed until February 2018. It is now August 2018 and one of them has already quit working. They are installed side by side in the exact same conditions. So, all I can tell you is that these are not dependable and should not be purchased. I bought them because they seemed to be priced very well. You get what you pay for. I do not recommend you buy these.

Very bright and lasts well into the night.

Works well to illuminate the stair rail on my deck. All lights have been working for a week now and provides illumination all night. No rain water has gotten into them, even after some good storms. I'll provide further updates if failures occur.

Purchased 8 units, arrived ahead of schedule, well packaged.Two of the units were not assembled with care and had to be properly locked into place.Charged them all up on a sunny day and after a week, all are functioning properly.The only negative is that the photo detector on all have quite different sensitivities, i.e. although they areall in reasonable proximity with same un-obstructed evening sky light capture, they all turn on at different times,over about a 20 minute interval.

I installed these on my trailer stairs, only needed them on one side, they were bright enough , lots of people ask where I got them

Pretty crappy not much light for what I wanted

out of the box one light was defective. after removing the tab to activate the battery it wouldn't turn off. sent them back.
