Wow...different but awesome!
OMG...I loved this! I mean it started really different than from when it ended. Elina is VERY different than we are used to. Seriously..she is wow. In a good way though. Celyn was sweet and funny and cute. He's actually not the cad we think he is from the other books. Not saying he didnt do his fair share of sharing beds with women. He's not a jerk though. He is so very surprised with Elina and really confused by her...mostly confused. Elina...think vikings but in reverse. Her people's females are held higher than the males. The females have many husbands and tons of children. Its crazy. They live in harsh conditions and are not pampered in any way. They are warriors through and through. Elina is seen as weak and pathetic by her people. Only person who doesnt see her that way is her sister Kachka. She is more warrior than Elina is. After being sent on a suicide mission by her people Elina obviously fails at killing the Dragon Queen she doesnt even get up the mountain very well. Celyn is a protector or the Queens guard and finds her first. She doesn't kill her but has Celyn put her in jail until they figure out what to do with her. Well...he forgets about her. Oopsy. When he comes back he is shocked that she's actually not suffered anything but been looked after by the jailers. I love her nickname for him...Dolt. Ha. Anyway, they are both sent on a mission to her lands to create an alliance with her people and Queen Annwyl. So many things happen along the way. They end up in bed with each other. She's a speak her mind and honestly type of person so when she wants sex she says so. He's confused by this and is used to human females and even dragon who expect stuff like pretty things and is baffled when she looks at him like he's crazy. They end up relying on each other during their mission. Grow to trust each other. Til they get there and all hell breaks loose. Elina's own mother gets the easiest excuse to kill her. Disobey's an order. She wants to see the leader of the Steppes but is refused by her mother. They fight and Elina gets really hurt. Celyn tries to defend her gets hurt as well and they do make it thanks to their saviors. She does lose an eye. She almost dies from her injuries until they are rescued by none other than....Rhian, Talon, and Talwyn. Yeah...they are grown up and have escaped their places where they should have been training. They no longer needed to stay learned all they needed to and plus they felt they were needed elsewhere. However, the brotherhood didnt want Talon to leave. He's got some awesome powers. Bringing back the dead...only animals so far but dang. Who else shows up in a cave dwelling...hmm Brigida the Foul? Shouldn't she be dead? I mean she has to be like 2000 years old lol. Lots of different things happening. Elina survives with her help. That god from Hell wants a war and starts trying to assassinate people who would be a worthy cause to go to war. Agrippamina, Dagmar, Bercelak, Bram...a few others. All hell breaks loose and Celyn, Branny, Elina, Kachka, and a few of the others are trying to save everyone. Even with her one eye. :) Seems the advantage was taken at the right time when everyone was going to be away. I just thought it was awesome how Annwyl got revenge for Elina by killing her crazy mother and taking her eyes. Still not sure about why Brigida is still around. Cant wait for the next book. Laughed by fool head off in this book as always. :) OMG...is anyone else like freaked about Var? He seems so old and mature and he like 10! For awhile I thought he was like 17 or something. Uh no. Kid is so like his mother Dagmar. What Annwyl gifts her at the end? Awww so freaking sweet. Everyone thinks she is crazy and she really isnt. She just does things differently and they totally underestimate Fearghus as well. Fredrick...I wanna know more about him. He's grown so much as a character and in age as well. Hard to believe he's 24. I kinda felt this series was sorta coming to an end. Um no. There is sooo much more that could be done. I sure hope she doesnt wrap it up yet.

Good book
I enjoyed this book. It took me a little longer to really get into the two main characters. Celyn just seemed like a goofy guy who asks a lot of questions and Elina was the stronger one. But as the book progressed, you start to see that Celyn is actually rather smart and can see the big picture of a situation. Not only is he good at being a soldier, he is actually similar to his dad, Bram, who is a good strategist. Celyn & Elina’s relationship becomes enduring and rather cute. The series plot continues to develop and I enjoyed reading about Annwyl’s kids as grown ups. Along with their cousin, they are powerful and ready to help fight the big war that’s developing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
I received an ARC of this book from the Publisher, via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. This is the 7th book in the Dragon Kin Series, and then there are a handful of novellas. I adore both this series, and her Pack/Pride series under the Shelly Laurenston name. If you are confused by the fact that some of the Dragon Kin stories are under a different name, well it's the same author, so don't worry.A word about reading order according to the author:There are two ways to read the Dragon Kin series. One is in the order they were written by me, and one is based on the chronology of the series. I, personally, prefer the order in which the books were written because I tease or hint about the romances of the older dragons during the full-length novels. Then in the anthos, some of the humor payoff comes out of having read those novels first. This doesn’t mean, however, that you can’t read the series in straight chronological order. I know there are some readers who hate “prequels.” So to help out, below are the reading orders of the book, mine and chronological.– G.A.G.A.’S READING ORDER1. Dragon Actually2. “Chains & Flames” from Dragon Actually3. About a Dragon4. “Can’t Get Enough” from Everlasting Bad Boys5. What a Dragon Should Know6. Last Dragon Standing7. “Dragon On Top” from Supernatural8. The Dragon Who Loved Me*9. How to Drive a Dragon Crazy*10 A Tale of Two DragonsCHRONOLOGICAL READING ORDER1. “Can’t Get Enough” from Everlasting Bad Boys*2. A Tale of Two Dragons3. “Chains & Flames” from Dragon Actually4. “Dragon On Top” from Supernatural5. Dragon Actually6. About a Dragon7. What a Dragon Should Know8. Last Dragon Standing9. The Dragon Who Loved Me*10 How to Drive a Dragon Crazy*These are my additions to Aiken's post which hadn't been updated with the newest books. While I was disappointed that the Pack/Pride series was ending or at least going on hiatus, I was thrilled to see she started back on the Dragon kin series. Aiken/Laurenston has the absolutely funniest paranormal characters. They're witty, snarky, self-absorbed, and insane. Who wouldn't have a good time with that? But, as is almost always the case with a series, this just isn't a good starting spot, so if you haven't read the rest of the series, now is not a good spot to jump in. While each of the stories has it's own hero and heroine, there is an overall plot arc that won't make sense without all the pieces of the puzzle.Light My Fire comes back about a decade after The Dragon Who Loved Me. Most of the characters live hundreds of years, so all the beloveds are still around and much as we saw them last, but there are a ton of new kids running around. Celyn the Charming, who caused so much trouble with, Izzy and Éibhear, finally gets his own heroine, and she is an absolute riot. Elina Shestakova of the Black Bear Riders of the Midnight Mountains of Despair in the Far Reaches of the Steppes of the Outerplains, is a cynic with a fatalistic world view from a matriarchal society, so just about as opposite from the Southland Dragons as is humanly, or even inhumanly , possible. And she is even more different from Celyn who tends to be a sweetie. The best way to explain Elina is to picture a stereotyped Russian man and then add some more aggression and chauvinism. Frankly, Celyn and Elina kind of flip gender sterotypes in an enjoyable and hilarious way that made me re-read this in really short order. Their romance was nicely integrated into the overall plot arc of the series, and they fit into the overall Anwyl and original human dragon hybrid children plot. The series seems to have grown organically and the new characters have been a logical extension of that growth, and they don't just seem to be place holders for characters we are waiting to have grow up so they can get their own stories. When a series gets this long you start to worry that the whole thing is going to spiral out of control into a mess that you don't even recognize anymore, and I am so, so glad that isn't the case this time. This book opened up the Dragon Kin World in a way that i think is going to keep the series fresh and interesting for a few more books at the very least. 4.5 stars and a murderous rampage if it takes more than about a year to get me the next one.

Never mind the Hero, give me Heroines like this.
Wow ! Wow! Wow! This s a 4.5 stars from me, because while it had all the usually fabulous ingredients that GA Aiken adds to her stories, I felt Celyn (the hero) did not match up to the more complex hero's that have filled the previous books.Luckily we still had Fearghus being anti-social, Briec being the worlds most obnoxious a**hole, Gwenvael being Gwenvael, and being brilliant at it, and of course the lovely Ébihear being such a wonderful, loving and deadly warrior. With previous dragon hero's of this calibre it is difficult to see Celyn in the same light. All I can say is thank the gods for the heroine Elina! She was both manic and sympathetic. I wanted to hugs her, go for a drink with her and beat up her mother (well done Annwyl!)Wow (again) . Thank you to GA Aiken for giving us such strong female leads. Women who don't want equality if it means they remain second class citizens. Thank you GAA for the manic laughter, the swearing the bloodshed and the chaos of the Dragon Kin. Thank you too for giving your readers the HEA with a strong dose of 50% madness and 50% love and being part of a family.

Omg omg loved it!!
G.A. Aiken you should be so very proud of yourself what an amazing world you have created with incredible characters. The dragon kin series is by far the best series ever for me 😍. Elina was brilliant so different from everybody else she's brought a breath of fresh air in to the series. I loved getting to know ceyln more I didn't think much of him before now because of the whole izzy thing but I'm glad we get to know him better in his own storyline. As always there's loads and loads of different thing going on in this book, old characters from past books have a big involvement as usual which is great their all too good a characters to be lost and forgotten about but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of new faces. I can't wait for the younger generation to get there own books fingers crossed they do. Now for book 8 😀 then to wait for book 9 😱.

Just didn't want it to end!
I was really looking forward to this but to say it was even better than I expected is an understatement. The storyline with the two main characters was as enjoyable as usual (Elina is an absolute hoot!) but what I hadn't expected was that we'd be treated to the ongoing plotlines with all the other characters we've grown to know and love during the past few years. I guessed that we'd probably catch up with the twins and Rhian about 10 years after the end of the last story and thought they'd probably get at least one book each. To have them involved in this one was a bonus and sets the marker even more strongly towards how the saga might develop in the future.I actually slowed down my reading pace towards the end because I didn't want to finish it. My sister, who's as addicted to these novels as I am, said she nearly started reading it again immediately because she'd enjoyed it so much and I know exactly how she felt. Highly, highly recommended, although you really need to read the preceding six novels in the series to gain full enjoyment from this one.

FABULOUS READ!
Another fabulous book in a wonderful series from GAA. May it keep on coming!! .... Any chance we can have two a year?! Waiting for the next one is going to do me in! 😘The synopsis tells the story but not all. There are so many good bits, like all the main characters are there. Not just mentioned fleetingly but are fully involve in the story. Each had their own role to play and how wonderfully they've done to make the whole story so wonderful yet detracts nothing from the main characters to this book! They are all main characters in their own rights, and like great main characters, when they need to support they do it so well ... Wonderful writing style and humour as always! Please hurry and publish the next one Ms GAA xx

This book is quite brilliant
I loved this book, it was laugh out loud funny and the best one singe Gwenvael and Dagmar say watching the sister in law with the stable guy ... however ... I really didn't like the appearance of the "C" word, like many women I find it offensive and it was used over and over in this book which is why it only got four stars. I'm hoping that the next one is as funny as this one with less of that word in it!!
