Featuring 102 new dishes, this second edition provides practical suggestions to help patients and their caregivers anticipateโand overcomeโthe major challenges of eating well during treatment. What to Eat During Cancer Treatment offers evidence-based research and clinical information about the seven most common eating-related side effects of cancer treatmentโnausea, diarrhea, constipation, trouble swallowing, sore mouth, unintentional weight loss, and taste alterationsโand the foods to eat when these side effects occur. Throughout the book are beautiful, full-color photographs, along with tips for caregivers, food safety basics, strategies for avoiding excess weight gain, ways to deal with vitamin deficiencies, and more. Review: This got me through chemo - I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last year and spent months on chemo. The only reason I was able to eat some days was this cookbook. The recipes are searchable for dishes that will help for nausea, taste changes, texture issues, constipation, and other side effects. Most donโt require hard-to-find ingredients and the preparation is easy enough for the non-cooking spouse to follow. Review: Very helpful book for those going through the big C - This was a gift for a friend and they were extremely grateful to receive it. Simple recipes and backed by the American Cancer Association.

Have purchased several, always a good book for someone starting chemo
Got the original as a gift from a good friend as I entered my chemo treatment. I used it often during treatments. It is very helpful that it is organized by the various changes to your tastes ( which did change multiple times during my treatments ). I have since purchased several copies and gifted them to friends/family as they went through chemo. Everyone has had positive feedback on how much the book has helped through a trying time.

Great Book for Cancer Patients and Caregivers
First, the review titled "Outdated inappropriate ingredients" is a bit deceptive. If you are going through chemo, you are likely dealing with a variety of issues including needing excess calories to make up for days when you are too nauseated to eat. The book points out in the educational section at the front, that some of the recipes are designed to provide more calories than what you might otherwise want in a normal meal for exactly this reason. The book also addresses and provides recipes for all of the normal chemo side effects. If you are new to chemo or a caregiver for someone with chemo, there are a lot of weird side effects to deal with. This book does a wonderful job talking the reader through everything they need to know from these side effects to the additional steps that need to be taken for proper food safety when cooking for someone whose immune system is suppressed by chemo. In short - This book is laid out in a way that is ideal for someone going through chemo. The recipes are targeted for optimal nutrition and management of side effects. There is also a valuable amount of needed food related information to help you throughout your chemo regiment. IMHO, It's definitely worth the purchase.

Helpful
This cookbook offers a great selection of recipes designed specifically for people going through cancer treatment. The meals focus on easy-to-digest, nutritious ingredients that help manage side effects like nausea and mouth sores. I found several recipes that were simple to make and actually tasty, which can be a big challenge during treatment. The nutritional information and tips throughout the book were very useful, especially for understanding how certain foods can support healing and energy levels. The photography is bright and inviting, making the recipes even more appealing. My only minor complaint is that a few recipes require hard-to-find ingredients or take more prep time than expected, which isnโt always ideal when energy is low. Also, some sections could use more variety in flavors. Overall, itโs a valuable resource for patients and caregivers looking for practical meal ideas during treatment.
