This collection includes both Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition and Guacamelee! 2, providing hours of fun and challenging gameplay. The game is set in a colorful and vibrant Mexican-inspired world, with charming characters and witty dialogue. You play as Juan Aguacate, a farmer turned luchador, who must rescue his love interest and save the world from an evil villain. A Very Fun Game.
This is one of the most fun games I’ve ever played! If you like action games, or Metroid-Vania type games, then this is a must play. The story is fun, the action feels fresh, and all DLC is on the disk, so it’s a complete game you’ll be able to enjoy many years from now.

good game
I am playing the 1st generation, it is nice! The dialogue is funny. The difficulty is reasonable in normal mode ( hope not becoming to hard after I comment....)

This is a really fun game but it's best played with a friend or two. I couldn't progress far without a buddy. Fun music and theme.

Mexican Metrioidvania Collection
First some housekeeping:Disc includes 'Guacamelee super turbo championship edition', and 'Guacamelee! 2'Games are downloaded from the disc (and not PSN store). Must have disc in console to play.If you have PlayStation Plus (PS+), the game was "free"/included in the subscription a few years back. If you redeemed it back then, still able play if you still have online subscription. As of this review; cheaper to buy games digitally on PSN store---Onto the review:Guacamelee! is a Metroidvania style action platform and brawler.Story and theme is rooted in traditional Mexican culture and folklore. Think Disney's Coco film but with lucadors instead of music. You complete story objectives while getting upgrades to progress to new areas and battle enemies along the wayYou collect coins dropped by defeated enemies, pinatas and barrels to purchase upgrades to existing abilitiesGames have drop in drop out co-op play. Lives are not shared. Camera pans out, at times may be difficult to see what's going on--Story of first game: An evil charro skeleton named Carlos Calaca attacks the village and kidnaps Lupia to preform a world destroying ritualJuan must now go on a hero quest to obtain a mask and become more powerful to defeat the main villain--Story of 2nd game:7 years after the first game. Juan living the good life. Developed a beer belly and now has a familyDark cloud suddenly appears and our hero finds out that it's effecting the Mexiverse. In an alternate timeline. Juan and Lupita were killed by Calaca, who was eventually defeated by another luchador called Salvado who years later is corrupted by the mask. Salvado tries to collect three relics to become all powerful. Now it's a race to see who gets all 3 first---Gameplay:Metriodvania aspect comes in as you obtain power ups that help you reach in-obtainable areas you passed by beforeBrawler gameplay have you do combos (longer combos for more coins) and each enemies have different was of taking them out like rolling past them and hitting them from behind, or different color armor you have to break with corresponding special moves before you can do actual damage to themUpgrades are not only locked via coins spent, but objectives met like defeat certain enemies with a specific ability, or collect a certain number of chests.--Some changes in 2nd game:chicken transformation has special movesmore enemy types, abilities and larger mapsDuring the course of the game you manually swap between timelines in real time, or have scrolling time rifts (like 'Runbow' game) you have to platform through; making for creative platforming puzzles/challenges.Very challenging and rewarding platformer. The game is really good when introducing new mechanics integrates it well with the previous ones, so it doesn't feel obsolete. There are some times where precise button presses and near perfect pixel landings are required.Overall, I'd say the two games are really enjoyable and worth a look. May be cheaper to buy digitally than on disc unless you're a collector and want the physical disc, digital soundtrack and double sided poster
