In reality, it is a flat piece that you then velcro. Not so good with a sandwich that goes a little runny - like with tomatoes. I don't have to worry that my bread is cut thicker and hence cannot fit into it. Also, it's not bulky, so I can simply slide it with my bread into the side of my bag, without creating bulk. Just be careful not to flatten your bread if you happen to carry heavy objects in your bag. I also like it that after eating, it folds up compactly. I was SUPER gentle in opening it. So that was no good. IMO if they can't put better quality stiching on their product don't bother making it. I will be unfortunately keeping these and will try to repair it (maybe) because I don't like to be wasteful and don't feel like doing the hassle of returning this. Also, a small pet peeve if I may. I was expecting the location of the velcro but I wasn't expecting it to be off centered and croked. When closed it doesn't line up with the velcro. Bad quality control item? Who knows, but won't purchase another to find out.
