If you want no lines in your work, these are the best...
They really seem to have a bit more pigment than most watercolor pencils (I've tried them all). I love Durer's, but if you are looking for the pencil lines to disappear for a true watercolor effect, these are the best. I only wish they were cheaper. I bought two twenty packs as a treat to supplement my absurd pencils collection (landscape and marine)... And the colorfastness is unmatched. If I were in a different income bracket, these would be my go-to. If you have money to blow, buy these. I also have a set of older Sakura pencils that also dissolve really well. I haven't used their latest ones. I'd rate the Durer third for dissolving, but they are pigment rich and also work great dry (you can even layer some), whereas these other ones don't... All the pencils have their own personalities. You can buy open stock to test drive them, but they are around five each... LOVE THESE!

Excellent Artist Find!
Wonderful color selection and easy to use. I love how they respond to adding water after drawing with them. They can be complete blended or create texture. Highly recommend!

Great pencils!
I'm a novice artist (at age 64!) and I started out with Crayola colored pencils (very hard), tried Schpirerr Farben (soft and nice), and now the Caran D'ache (fantastic!). What a difference, I love these pencils. They make my amateur drawings look good. I'm sure real artists can extol their virtues, but I can say that these pencils go on smoothly, blend nicely, and sharpen easily without breaking. Beyond that, I just know that I like them very much!

Oops! Not for starving artists or teachers
I'm so disappointed. I was expecting crazy nice colors and easy color mixing. I sacrificed a bigger selection of colors for better quality but overall, the price and smaller selection of colors isn't worth it to me for the price. Maybe if I was selling my work for lots of money? The colors are named and photographed in the description, so be careful to look closely before buying and be sure you only need what you can see. Trying to make colors that are not included is not easy with these. Simple colors like violet and pink were difficult for me to make. I am used to using much lower quality pencils and decided to treat myself with these, but maybe I'm not ready for this brand? I don't know. The pencils come in a very nice cardboard box lined with foam, very protected and secure, and look very nice. Each pencil and the pigment in it is very sturdy and long lasting. The pigment itself, however, does not look or feel so much higher quality to me that it is worth spending $54 for 20. I do like that the name of the color is right there on the pencil and the example of the color is on the end of each pencil. Overall, these are nice pencils, but for me, not worth the extra money. Definitely having some buyers remorse right now and may try to resell online.

The best watercolor pencils out there.
Nice collection of colors in this set. I recommend the landscape color set as well. These pencils leave no marks when you wet them. In that regard they beat out all of the competition, including Faber-Castell’s Albrecht Durer. (Which I also love.). Some of the colors are slightly opaque however so it depends on what effect you’re looking for. For a larger range of color and better transparency go with the Faber-Castells. Or better yet, go with both! You won’t regret buying these and they do last a long time.

Caran D'ache Museum Aquarelle -Packaging, Color Chart and Labeling?
I have several sets of both colored and water soluble pencils from various manufacturers and the Caran D'ache are my favorites. These pencils are excellent with good coverage, great pigment color saturation and water solubility with no lines left after they dry. The pencils are premium and worth the price. However, I feel the cardboard box packaging would be better served as a metal case, and also an included color chart from the manufacturer. It's difficult to buy more colors by looking online, and for what these pencils cost to buy individually open stock, a color chart is deserved by the customer. Additionally, they are not marked with a color name, only a number. I've been an artist for almost 40 years and know color by name and like to keep records of what was used. A check with several online stores indicates there is a color name with the number; having both listed on the pencils would simplify things. To remedy this I had to make labels with the color names and put them on the pencils. I'd rather use my time to be drawing than looking online for color names and labeling! The packaging, color chart and proper labeling should be reflected due to the cost of the item.

Pessimo . Seco .

Absolutely beautiful, pigmented with juicy free flowing colours when activated with water đź’¦
I have the supracolor and the prismalo and they are really good quality but when I purchased these museum aquarelle watercolour pencils I was amazed at the quality and the difference from the supracolor & prismalo . You add water and it’s just like watercolour, the pigments flow and well they are most definitely the watercolour version of luminance , top of the range and beautiful colour pallet as well . I purchased this set of 20 marine at an amazing price and I almost cancelled my order, luckily for me it was too late to cancel because they were almost ready for dispatch. I’m glad I have them and they add beautifully to my Art supply’s , I tend to use mix media with my Art and one of my most used brands that I use a lot is caran dache . Yes can highly recommend these watercolour pencils for quality, pigments , beautiful colours and vibrancy .
