Incipio Carnaby Google Pixel Slate Folio Esquire Series - Gray

I waited to get this case, thinking I wouldn't need it if I had the Google Keyboard Case. Well, as good as the Google keyboard is, it's really meant for use on a desk, and does that very well. I got the Google Slate as a Tablet, to be used handheld and on the go. The Google keyboard Case just wasn't great for that - so after a couple months purchased this case and wish I just got this in the first place. I thought it would be a basic folio like I had when I used an iPad, but this is much better. It protects the Slate extremely well when shut, keeping it safe throughout the day. When opened it folds back on itself to allow easy handheld use, and this is the way I use it most. It is excellent for this purpose. On the rare times I use the Slate on a desk or table, it props the Slate up at a good viewing angle and holds it securely - poking at the touchscreen doesn't cause it to shift at all. It even allows the Slate to sit in portrait mode, which I like when working on documents. Of course, it still allows you to use the more traditional landscape orientation if that's what you prefer. When I do work at a desk, this Folio holds the Slate well, and I can then connect with my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard if I want, giving me the freedom to work like a traditional laptop or as a tablet.Ok, the materials... This case is covered in a nice office friendly grey fabric. It looks nice, perfectly acceptable at home or work. It is surprisingly solid, the panels that cover the screen and back of the Slate are thick and stiff, very good protection. The flap that closes it is held closed by magnet, plenty strong to keep it closed when in my pack but not so strong that it's hard to open. It's perfect.Other good aspects: Easy to charge while in the case. Case has a pen holder - nice little bonus. The back and sides of the Slate are protected by a form fitting plastic case that snaps on like a phone case with cutouts for each port or button - mine fit perfectly. Love the ability to rotate the Slate to landscape or portrait.Ok what's the catch? There aren't many things not to like actually. When using it on a desk or table, there are really only 2 angles it holds they tablet at. More would be nice, but the 2 do meet almost all my needs, they're well thought out. The grey color is fine, not very exciting and not very offensive, just neutral. Some color options would've been welcome, minor complaint.Summary: I love it. It's well thought out, seems well made with quality materials, fits perfectly, provides excellent protection for this expensive machine. My only regret is waiting so long to get it - it should've been the first accessory I got for my Pixel Slate.

I purchased the folio, simply because there are so few options for the Pixel Slate. It is an attractive, office-friendly design with a decent tray to snap in to, but that is where the appeal for this cover ends. It is not a lap-friendly design, forcing the user to reach far in 'laptop' mode, the rubberized lines to prevent the device from sliding are poorly positioned and could be on the main flap, thus giving the user more angles to work with. In tablet mode, the user is forced to deal with rough edges in the hand, uncomfortable for extended periods of time. Finally, the rotating hinge turns in just one direction, full circle rotation would allow the user more choice in how they want to orient the device.While attactive, overlooked features prevent this cover from a high review, especially at the $40+ price point.

This case is the perfect companion for my Google slate. I hook up an external monitor, mouse and keyboard at my desk, and when I hit the road, this case fits perfectly. The inner case is hard plastic, and the outer fabric case looks very professional. Well worth the extra money vs. cheaper cases.

Pros: Great looking case, nice outer material, pen loop is a nice touch and the rotating feature to view screen vertical wad a nice touchCons: inner lining material prone to staining, at less than 45 degrees the grips on the pad don't hold the Google slate up, and you won't be able to use it with a keyboard. Also pricey!Overall still recommend despite the minor points.

Very nice case However the logo was coming loose right out box?!

Broke after 2 weeks of use.

doesn't hold the device, constantly collapsing. Almost no other options for the Pixel Slate. About the only use for this cover is protection. I could've bought several iPad covers for the price

Slate fits perfectly. And it has a nice feel to it
