There are 6 ceiling speakers in parallel and a standard amp just couldn't put out the power to drive the speakers some of which ate 30 feet away. This amp powers them fine from the 70V output connection in the amp. It also accommodates 2 large mic jacks and streams Bluetooth, has usb for music, built in FM tuner and 500 watt output. It make a loud "pop" when you turn on the power button (would have been so easy for the engineer who designed this to fix), and the speaker connectors are screws, not the handy spring loaded quick disconnect ones like our old Radio Shack amp had. Not a big deal if the amp is stationary, but ours gets disconnected when the podium is moved for floor cleaning, etc. But considering a lot of folk kept using the wrong impedance output when reconnecting the old one, maybe the more permanent screw connectors will prove to be better after all. I don't know if this will last as long as the old amp, but it is nice. Well designed, with the classical note aspect but modern features. Bluetooth is working great. For those who Know Audio Amps, to pay ONLY 70$ for this is a GIFT. It has rotational smooth potentiometers on each input source ( each of 2 mikes, mp3/bluetooth/SD/USB and Aux.), plus the output level. Has a small casual remote that works just fine. I am using it now on a (12) x SI 26CT Extron Electronics ceiling speakers in parallel at /100V output with no problem. Honestly I did not test with an oscilloscope and an audio 1 KHz sin generator its actual max power, distortions etc., but common !!
