Truly one of the best Spider-Man video games of all time, thanks again
I really love this game, it is truly one of the best. the story is amazing, I love how it introduces the Chameleon, I also love how Kingpin rises to power and how each of the other super villains come in especially Black Cat, Green Goblin, Electro, Carnage, Kraven the Hunter, the Chameleon. But most of all I love that this game has Stan Lee in the game located in a store called the Comic Stand. Thanks again

Ugh the cutscenes and boring fighting.
Totally was looking forward to this game.I love open world Spider-Man games: the last Amazing, Web of Spider-Man, etc...This one though is bleah. The controls are okay, but the fighting is BORING.Even Spider-Man says the fights are boring and the cutscenes to get to the fights ruin the immersion. You spot some thugs hurting someone. You arrive.Cutscene #1No longer where you were. You are warped to standing on the ground somewhere predetermined.Boring pointless fight that is no threat.Cutscene #2 Thugs tied up with webbing.Cutscene #3 Reporter girl talks about Spidey beating up thugs.Back to web-swinging...Cutscene #1No longer where you were. You are warped to standing on the ground somewhere predetermined.Boring fight.Cutscene #2 Thugs tied up with webbing.Cutscene #3 Reporter girl...Every single time and Spidey says the same things over and over. He even admits it is boring. After an hour of playing I already heard him say the same things 10 TIMES! Then there are these indoor excursions where the controls and the camera are a complete mess. Also the swinging breaks a lot of the time. You'll swing into a building and Spider-Man will get stuck all buggy in his swing. After a couple hours, this game saddened me immensely, I got rid of it. Not the finest Spidey effort.

Not as awful as some people would lead you to believe
I initially removed this game from my radar because of all the negative feedback I heard. The only other Spider-Man game I've played was Web of Shadows, and I thought it was great. I needed something to spend my time on until Evolve comes out, so I decided to give this a try. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this game is awesome (because it's not), but it's definitely not terrible.Combat -- Lets just get this out of the way, it tries to mimic the Batman games, and it was mostly unsuccessful. But, that doesn't mean the combat didn't have its fun moments. For some reason, my favorite combat tactic was the stealth approach, and that's unusual for me. There's something pretty cool about sneaking up behind some tool, and capturing him in your web, then hanging him out to dry - I never got tired of doing that. If you grow tired of sneaking up on foes, you can also throw objects at them, such as large trashcans, or you can shoot your web at them, and make them stick against the wall. The rest of the combat consisted of repeatedly pressing the square button, and the occasional press of the triangle button to counter incoming attacks.Weaponry -- We're talking about Spider-Man here, so this will be a very short paragraph. He doesn't really use any weapons. But, you'll acquire an ability a little bit later in the game called the Sonic Blast, or something like that. After holding down the circle button for a couple of seconds, Spider-Man will be able to shoot out this burst of energy that stuns enemies, or temporarily knocks done some of the weaker ones. Besides his hands, the only other weapon he has is his web, I suppose. As I mentioned earlier, you can use your web to plaster thugs against the wall, or just wrap them up, where they stand. If facing an enemy that's armed, you can use your web to disarm the enemy, and that'll often come in handy.Enemies -- To make a long story short; the common enemies were boring and uninspired, but the bosses were a sight to behold! You'll encounter the same few enemy types over and over: Unarmed street thug, street thug with a gun, street thug with a bat, street thug with a sniper rifle, chick with a knife (I think they're called speedies), and a fat dude that has to be stunned before hitting him. You'll see those same few over and over. I think there may be about 6 or 7 boss battles, and each one was pretty unique, in my opinion. You'll fight some of them in close quarters, while other showdowns will take place outside, where you'll have plenty of room to work! The last boss battle was phenomenal, and it was as difficult and tricky as a last battle SHOULD be! Honestly, the boss fights solidified this as a 4 star title, because some of the other stuff was meh.Miscellaneous -- The game isn't very long (probably a good thing). If you're the adventurous type, you may be disappointed. The city isn't really that beautiful to look at, and the only thing you can collect are comic pages that are scattered about town. Although the city isn't really that great, I found the graphics to be ok. As many have mentioned; swinging through the city is a blast, and feels really fluid (right trigger for right hand, left trigger for left hand). I wish I could tell you about the side-missions, but I was rushed through them and couldn't enjoy them. If you don't get to the side-missions in a certain amount of time, they'll disappear and result in you possibly becoming a menace to society. You don't want this to happen, trust me. Once you become a menace, these Task Force idiots will be all over your tail, and you will not be able to do anything in peace. Want to collect comic book pages? Nope, Task Force will chase you down and force you into a damn confrontation. Feel like going home and changing costumes? Hell no, Task Force has other ideas. Think it's a good idea to stop at the comic store and check out some new figures you unlocked? Not unless you want to be curb-stomped by the Task Force. Just do as many side-missions as quickly as you can, and you won't have to worry about the Task Force. I came close to giving the game three stars because of their shenanigans. There is one pretty cool thing I want to point out. If you complete certain side-missions, you'll unlock these very, very cool alternate costumes that'll give you different attributes (similar to wearing different armor in a RPG game). So, as a whole, the game isn't fantastic. With that being said, it's not as terrible as many people say it is. I actually enjoyed the story, and I didn't have to force myself to play it COUGHS dragon's crown COUGHS. Sorry about that, I must have a slight touch of bronchitis. If you're looking for something quick and easy (for the most part), this is your game. If you're in the mood for something that is so great, it'll change your life forever, you better bypass this one. Evolve; you're up next!

It's a fun game. I wouldn't recommend it for the hard-core gaming teen or adult. But my 7 yo son loves it. He plays games well and hasn't had a problem with the controls. The repetitive nature of the game is perfect for him.
