This compound is not just for paint returns dull metal finishes back to a polished mirror shine.
When I first bought Griot's Complete Compound, I wasn't really sure what to expect, I had low expectations. Little did I know that I was in for a big surprise, my first thought was I had completely wasted my money, because I already had Turtlewax light-duty metal polish compound which is white, and Turtle wax heavy duty red compound, which both of these products work and I mostly have no complaints but one. The light-duty TW compound was frustrating me, mostly because it was only good for light scratches and surface marks so I needed something else for heavy-duty scratches and that's where Grigots Complete compound comes in. Now ideally this is for glossy painted surfaces, but I had to see if those would work on chrome plated and other metal finishes to see what it did. After using it, I was pleasantly surprised, if you look at the pictures that I provided of a 1970s Schwinn stamped bottom bracket you'll notice there is a difference especially if you look at the third picture of the two keyed washers one says dull one says shiny. The shiny keyed washer is after I used compound and wax, whereas the dull keyed washer (granted this was cadmium-plated parts I was polishing) is what it already looked like with no polish or compound applied. Now as for if it is heavy-duty at first that was hard to say. But after using it I would say at least for polishing metal I'd say it's more medium-duty to heavy-duty. For glossy coated paint it would work great, I am sure, and I will test it on my 1965 Schwinn Deluxe Stingray I am repainting burnt coppertone orange after I apply a clear coat. As for metal polishing, it seems like it works pretty well and I couldn't be happier. There are some chrome-plated parts I want to try out next and see what the results would be, for the moment though I am very pleased with this product. For the price it seems a little steep for compound but obviously, there's a major difference between cheap compound that is more clay/playdoughy-like (not really sure how else to describe that), vs a more expensive compound that is more like cream or toothpaste consistency. Would I use this over Turtlewax? Yes and no, it depends if I need to remove light scratches or medium scratches. or if I want something more cream than clay-like, compared to turtle wax I will admit that it takes a lot more to clean up turtle wax because especially if it gets into spoke holes on a hub its a big pain in the butt, whereas Griot's actually does really well cleaning up with just water or soapy water especially if it's left to dry. Though I will clean it off with a damp/wet towel and I've never had issues. Really water isn't necessary as the user is supposed to use straight compound and then just wipe it off with a microfiber towel. Granted I have used an old bath towel and it doesn't seem to be a problem because I can polish it with like microfiber towel or rag. However, it is strongly recommended that you do not use a bath dish towel or paper towel as it leaves fuzz whatever it is called behind. However with an old bath towel that doesn't even do that I've never had an issue with it. Also, make sure you wear gloves as it does dry out the skin, and if you have sensitive skin always wear gloves if you're not using this on your car and you are polishing metal parts especially those with round shape surfaces like a handlebar and you're using an electric or battery operated polisher or a Dreamel is sure to wear goggles or a face mask as this will get in your eyes. The first time using this compound I used it with some polishing pad accessories on a Dremel I got some of it on my glasses which wasn't bad because when I cleaned my glasses later on I could see much better. It also says on the bottle not to use plastic or porous surfaces. So I won't be doing that. I would buy this again in heart beat, great stuff. I highly recommend it.

Great one step product
My truck is white and honestly wasn't too bad to start, but it did have some light scratches I wanted to take out. I clay barred the truck before polishing, used a microfiber pad, and used this in one quick step. I did spend a little extra time on the noticeable scratches. I am very happy with the result, the truck has a very nice, smooth finish to it now and the light scratches are effectively gone. Would buy again.

Great compound
Used this as a one step, didn't even need to go with another polish as it restored the gloss on my car and eliminated most swirls.

Safe, Effective, and Reliable!
I have gained a lot of respect for this company and it's products. I'm always one who likes to do his own research and determine which product I'll need to complete jobs efficiently. Once I gave Griot's products a try, I learned that they really do describe their uses and limitations accurately. I primarily do interior vehicle detailing but get the occasional request for an outside touch up. It's pretty hard to go wrong with this product. Just like the Micro Fiber Fast Polishing Pad (by Griot's Garage) it's very user friendly. It can safely and effectively get you a polished surface. Like with any "general purpose" product, you have to remember that it's not a cure all. If you encounter a vehicle needing special attention, you might want to look at Griot's Machine Polish #2 or #3. You could still use this product, but you may need to spend a lot of time working it to achieve the desired finish. This compound is great, and the only reason I didn't give it all 5 starts is because sometimes you just want more out of it. I don't want to say it's TOO gentle, but for general purpose use or for those learning to buff, this is perfect! In summation: -Can be used to improve any paint job (within reason) -Safe and gentle -Provides confidence for beginners -Effective general purpose polish -You may need a more diverse selection of polishes if more aggressive buffing is required. "It'll buff"

It works!!
This polish works, removing light scratches quickly but it's also aggressive so you gave to use it carefully. I recommend it for more serious cases.

Actual Magic
This is like no other compound I have ever used. Compared to a couple of "Heavy-Cut" compounds in my toolbox, this one actually works FASTER and requires less work/steps to get back to showroom shine. This erases small/light scratches with no effort at all. It removed some baked-in water spots in record time also. It did all of this without excessive wear on the finish of the car and with very minimal dusting. Highly recommended for amateurs that are trying for thr first time to correct paint issues.

Dont waste your money - doesn't work
Wish I could write a better review. Wish I could tell you it works perfectly. Honestly can't tell any difference and. Even worse unable to return the product. I love Griots products. Apparently thr scratch was deeper than what this product can fix. This still works as solid wax application so not a total loss

Car polishing
This is a great product works very well in removing polish swirls I’ve used this on multiple occasions and had great results would not hesitate to recommend it It’s a bit expensive coming from the US but I still think it was worth it for me

Cuts very well, cheaply
Excellent value, this is my new go-to for heavy paint correction. Does not sling at all, it's a very thick consistency, easily worked for 2-3 passes on a sedan's hood. Just mist some water on the dried patches if more passes are required. I'd rate this on the same level as M105 by Meguiar's, and 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, in terms of its cutting ability. I'd say it's a step below Würth's red top compound. For the price, I'm very satisfied with this compound for minor paint correction. This will not replace wet sanding for heavier defects. Use a hard foam pad, or a Meguiar's microfibre cutting pad.

Best Compound I've Used!
Honestly this is one of the best compound I've ever used. I've used this all over my 2008 Ford Escape which had a ton of swirl marks and scratches and this compound completely got rid of all those marks. I used an applicator pad and applied it throughout the car by hand. The compound easily applies and drys off after thorough rubbing. Check out my pictures for a sample of the scratches before and after. I'm a beginner with all of this but I had no issues with the product. Recommended for any car owner!
