5 stars because it's very sturdy and heavier than standard plastic scoops. It is also larger than the standard clay litter scoops. The holes/slats are larger too. This would be great for people that use clumping litter!I ordered this when I switched to wood pellets for cat litter since it was recommended for such uses. In hindsight, I don't think I really needed to switch to a bigger scoop, as the sawdust goes through the smaller scoop just as well and doesn't lose as many smaller pellets to trash. The smaller scoop requires more scoops to finish the job but it sifts faster so I think overall they end up taking the same amount of time to finish. Also it's easier to scoop out poop with the smaller scoop.

Finally a scoop that holds up. This large solid plastic litter scoop is up to the task. You won't have to worry about this one snapping in two first time you hit a particularly heavy scoop. I have a Martha Stewart Home litter Scoop that is the best I had ever owned. This one is it's equal. It is one piece construction. Some "metal" scoops have plastic handle melted or glued on to the scoop. They snap.as easily as the cheap plastic ones. This is a quality scoop. But it might not be ideal for clay (non clumping) litter as the holes are fairly large.

Heavy doodie. Pun intended! However, it is not good for pine pellets. I bought some horse bedding from Tractor Supply and it is too big to fit through the holes. I will try it with the kind they make for cat litter and see if it is better. This is probably made better than anything you can buy after 1990. Not meant to be a cheap disposable purchase.

This is an extremely sturdy and durable plastic litter scoop. There is no flex whatsoever in this scoop. I can't see it ever breaking unless you were to step on it. It's also very easy to clean, as the litter does not tend to stick to it too much. That said, the main problem is the holes are way too big, which allows too many of the smaller pieces to easily fall through. Another issue is that the scoop is fairly heavy, maybe a bit too heavy, as using it tended to quickly become very uncomfortable for my wrist. I also found it a bit difficult to get into corners with this scoop due to the angle of the scoop mouth.

So, the listing stated specifically that this litter scoop can be used with pellet litter. Nope. Sure, you can use it if you want to scoop the pellets out of your litter box. But, if you want to scoop the poops and leave the litter pellets, Nope. I am very disappointed.

I was hoping this would work for the equine pine pellets from Tractor Supply, but the slots are too narrow, hence retaining both poop and pine pellets.It's a very nice scoop, and I'm sure it's great for clumping litter, but look elsewhere for pine pellets.PS - I wound up buying a dryer vent cover with 3/8" holes in a plastic mesh... that is serving nicely as a scoop.

LOVE this scooper. I have been searching forever for a litter scoop that won't snap in half on me and this one definitely won't be doing that - it is super strong and durable! Someone mentioned in another review it is too big - although it is bigger then your standard scooper - not by much and I like how you can get a bigger sweep out of it anyways.
