Good book from the Wiccan perspective
This is a good book, written from the Wiccan perspective, as are all of Conway's books. She does a good job of providing a framework based on the Norse pantheon and myth cycle. This will cover everything from basic rituals and spell casting to runes. I found this somewhat easier to read than her Celtic Magic book of the same format, maybe because I identify more with the Norse side of things. One star off as this may be a bit misleading to someone who is looking to dive into Asatru or Heathenry, for which there are probably better intro books. As a Wiccan practitioner, it suits me just fine.

Great book for Norse Wiccans
If you are a Heathen you will more than likely be dissapointed with this book, however if you are interested in Norse Wicca or Germanic influenced Wicca, look no further, this is one of the best books available. It's easy to read and has lots of good information to help both beginners and advanced practitioners. I really liked the rituals, references in the back for the Runes and also the section on the deities and their correspondences. Great book!

Norse Magic and Runes for the Beginner
If you need an introduction to Norse magic, this will do to give you an overview and a handle on vocabulary and players. However, please note that there are lots of arguments among practitioners that this book contains errors and simplifications. If you intend to practice Norse magic, i suggest you go further in your research before trying to drum up any Norse gods. They are fierce. It does have a good introduction to the Runes. Consider it Norse magic for dummies.

NOT FOR THE ADVANCED OR THE FASTIDIOUS
That being said, this done contain some handy information. If you are true Asatru and don't have a Wiccan background, I do not recommend this book, unless you plan on fusing Wicca with Asatru and northern magick. The section on the runes is very watered down and simplistic and does not do justice to the complexity and power of the Futhark. Most of the lore seems to be accurate but again, much is sort of glossed over. This is a good resource for a novice but though I am not a novice, I enjoy some of what it has to say about magic and how it is used. I also appreciate it as a simple reference, but do take most of it with a grain of salt. "Northern Mysteries and Magick" by Freya Aswynn (though it is predominantly about the runes themselves) would serve most Norse magic practitioners much better. This would probably also be a useful introduction for children, but will need to be amended with better, more accurate, and more detailed works.

Less antropology approach, more esotericly leaning
I did not like so much certainty on meanings of runes if no linguistics material suggests that depth.I find handy the great deal of information about Norse deities and herb's applications and scientific names.

Ancient and modern wisdom
This book is perfect for practitioners of Norse Wicca, though I wouldn't recommend it for those who practice Norse Witchcraft and Seidr. Though it is very interesting, and a good read.
