I recently purchased “Amazon Echo Dot: Essential User Guide for Echo Dot and Alexa: Beginner to Pro in 60 Minutes, Kindle Edition” by William Scott (shortened to “Essential Dot User Guide – Scott” for this review) because I wanted more detailed information about my new Echo Dot device than was provided by the rather sparse manual that came with the device. This book is just what I was looking for. It is an outstanding manual that is filled with essential information about the Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) device and the Alexa digital assistant software that drives it.Scott includes chapters on the basics of how to use the Echo Dot for a variety of purposes, including listening to music, ordering items online, and many other operations. My father was a top notch engineer building factories for Westinghouse. He told me that one of his physics teachers told him that the most important course he should take was English. If you can't communicate your thoughts you might as well just go home. This writer needs to take some classes in English. There is a lot of discussion about that Alexa can do, but not in detail HOW to do it. And what to expect from the Dot, in the form of operational feed back. I felt as if I was working with a sales brochure. However I did get through it and Alexa seems to be working.

If you are the least bit technology challenged and have a Dot, this is great. I have trouble using guides on the computer and doing anything. This is complete, concise and clear.

I wish I had read this first instead of my usual habit with software/hardware--turn it on and start poking. I may need to reset to the factory setting and do it right.

A lot of fun, but I’m 65 and had to order the book on how to resolve connection issues and stuff - well worth the book so I know all it can do. If your lonely, this is a cool thing to have! ‘ Alexi, play jazz please’; Alexi, what’s the weather today’, Alexi, tell me a joke.... endless!

This book is very helpful to a new owner of an Echo Dot. I purchased the book before the Echo Dot arrived, and have referred back to it numerous times while setting it up and learning all it can do.,

Love this, does almost as well as the Amazon Echo. You just need to set it up on your pc and you can program all kinds of things into it. I have this by my bed and it plays my Pandora music selections.
