And wow! I was absolutely blown away. The chemistry was amazing, and the music was amazing as well. Bradley Coopers voice was incredible.This movie showed a love story dealing with a heavy addiction, without cheating and abuse. I don't think we realize there are many relationships where one is an addict, yet, there is no abuse and cheating. This truly resonated with me. My husband has battled with a life-long addiction, and has never been abusive, nor has he cheated. Regardless of his addiction, he has always loved me to his core, and has always treated me extremely well. There is a huge misconception of addiction, where many assume all relationships with addicts are abusive. Although many are, mine has never been and we have a 28 year history. (Since I was 14 years old) When Ally questioned if Jackson would love her the same sober, I felt this, as this was one of my biggest fears with my husband. Will I be enough for him clean? Will he still love me the same? Will his love be as intense? This was a very valid fear of mine. I have watched many movies in my time, but this, the story line pertaining to addiction was so different.The ending shocked me, and I don't think I was ready for this, another thing that shook me to my core. A great movie, great acting, amazing chemistry and just an incredible soundtrack. This was abysmal and I truly was expecting to like it! I think Lady Gaga's singing is great, her acting is embarrassingly bad, as it was in AHS. I saw people saying she was robbed out of an Oscar, they must be die -hard fans because she was awful! I have to ask what movie were they warching? Cooper who I have always felt kind of "meh" about is fantastic. He puts his heart and soul into this film and it shows. His version of worn out drunk was believable. His singing/playing was great. What was not was great was their chemistry which is funny because I think there was something electric between them at the Oscars but didn't feel it here at all. I guess we would have to chalk that up to her poor acting skills. She was too wooden to have chemistry with anything.The writing was also weak. Jack was a miserable sob who never felt loveable to begin with, it's hard to fathom why she would have fallen in love with him, I just didn't buy it. I felt like Gaga's character was written for someone 20 years ago, it didn't feel fresh at all. I'm not sure what role her dad & his friends, or Dave Chappelle's characters were supposed to bring to the table. They were just there, eating up time. Sam Elliott was a great addition, but he's always good and his role made sense, the others not so much. They just seemed unnecessary to an overly long movie.All in all this movie was too long, especially the songs... most of which weren't even memorable, already forgotten except one or two. I think his songs were better and more solid than hers which felt very old and dated. I think if he had made this movie with a stronger actress I may have enjoyed it more. She should take some acting classes if she wants to continue as an acteess. She has some kind of spark, you are drawn to her but that doesn't make her an actress. I’m more of a Equalizer, The Town kind of guy. But as I get older (I’m 33 😂) I find myself watching different types of movies and definitely enjoying them. This ken was one of them. I always thought Lady Gaga was nuts and weird lol. Which is a normal perception I think people have of her. God she is a good actor and her voice is unbelievable. She is super cute too man! Bradley Coopers character was great. He’s just one of those effortless type of actors. He’s awesome man. I don’t like the whole singer so he’s a drunk thing. It’s in every single movie and seems to get old. There’s like a million habits to choose from. Or maybe just not have a habit at all but the story is pretty much based around that so it wouldn’t work plus with the old version. Sam Elliot is my top 5 favorite male actors. That ruff exterior he nails all his characters and they are normally tuff guy character like back Roadhouse. At 0:52:56 They had a moment about there childhood farm being sold. And Elliot nailed it. Powerful man.Take it from someone who doesn’t watch these types of movies or enjoys them.
