They Work. Quite Well, Actually ...
I've used these in real-life situations four times now, and they did their job. They actually required far less clamping pressure than I expected when getting a grip on the screw head. It's nice to have the set, because getting a good grip on a fastener head sometimes is pretty sensitive to the size of the pliers you've chosen. That said, for typical household fasteners, the 6.25" size is a good choice. In one case, when installing a towel rack, the cheap screws provided by the manufacturer were so soft, the Phillips head slot in the head started to strip out during the last couple of turns of the screw, so I used Vampliers to *tighten* the screws, instead of ruining the screw heads completely. That worked wonderfully.I've used the 8" size (and some penetrating oil) on a fuel pump mounting bolt on a Honda that was so chewed up, the socket wouldn't get a firm grip. That took a *little* more manhandling, but was still a relatively fast extraction. (By fast, I mean: The Vampliers got the job done faster than the other methods available to me: An ez-out set, drilling out the bolt, or trying to make vice-grips get a firm hold on a tiny bolt head.)I would not use them as a complete replacement for general purpose pliers, as the hollow area in the nose (used to bite screws) prevents you from getting a solid grip on certain other small objects that you might use pliers to grab, the way you might use needle nose pliers. However, if you're trying to get a grip on larger objects, they work as well as any other set of pliers. They are *extremely* well made, and the complex-surface molding on the handles are a great touch. Should last forever. I have a feeling these are going to be one of those tools that, in a year or two, you "didn't know how you lived without".This set arrived as four retail-carded items that were then individually wrapped in craft paper and put in a nice box. Would've made a good gift package.

Very high quality, designed right for the task.
Tool junkie, motorcycle restoration hobbyist. I saw one of these (I think the 7") reviewed in Motorcycle Consumer News, and they gave it a very good review. I bought the set of four. I've dealt with broken/seized threaded fasteners for decades. They're one of the banes of motorcycle restoration. The VamPLIER tools are, indeed designed with the removal of damaged fasteners in mind. The serrations and dimensions of the jaws are such that a fastener (threaded shaft or nut) can be easily gripped, and then be able to apply significant twisting force to attempt removal. They aren't magic, but are far superior to conventional straight-jaw pliers for gripping nuts & threaded shafts or studs. Choose the right size for the job. Made in Japan of very high quality steel. Anyone who appreciates fine, high quality tools will be satisfied with any of these pliers. The fit & finish are beautiful works of industrial art. No discernible slop in the pivot, and the jaws meet precisely & evenly. Comfortable handles. They will be the first tool I'll reach for when the damaged/seized fastener is appropriate for the use of a VamPLIER.

A bit too hard to use effectively
These seem like a clever idea, but this should have been made in a Vice-grip stile to hold pressure while you are trying to twist the damaged screw back out. It is hard to apply pressure while turning the handle. With some practice I suppose I could get better at it, but I am finding I am not wanting to use these, so getting better at it may not be an option.
