I spent a lot of time investigating several options to get my Super Nintendo up and running on my TV, as AV cables just weren't cutting it for me. Half the time my TV would barely even pick up the signal. I researched several options from cables similar to Levelhike's, all the way up to modding the console. Enter Levelhike. I had considered other options such as the Hyperkin cable and some other knockoffs and several things about them stood out to me. First, I needed the option to switch from 16:9 aspect ratio to 4:3. No offense, but I don't know anyone in their right mind from my camp that would wanna stretch the image out that far. If that's your thing, so be it, but I prefer the original aspect ratio native to the SNES. I also didn't want to adjust my TV's screen size constantly. Nearly all of these other cables did not have that option. Second, most of these other cables had completely sketchy customer service and ratings/reviews. I didn't want to blow money on the hyperkin cable, for example, as I had heard it would crap out on some people after consistent use. I have had Levelhike's SNES cable for a while now, and it is a godsend. It allows for aspect ratio switching, is completely affordable, and the customer service couldn't have been more personable and professional. I appreciate a manufacturer who will stand by their product above all else. I have had no issues at all with the performance of the cable either, and even if I did I know Levelhike would work with me. Now, don't expect this to take your SNES games and turn them into completely clean and crisp HD visuals; again, we're talking about a 28 year old console here. But man, did it clear up 90% of the fuzziness I would get from the AV cables. To me, that is what mattered most. I also enjoy knowing that I can rely on this cable to be compatible with many other TVs (a lot of them, even with AV support, won't display anything at all depending on the size). All in all, this is an amazing, affordable HD option for your SNES that will give it a beautifully clear and colorful picture without any lag. I would surely recommend this to anyone seeking HD options for their Super Nintendo, and look forward to doing further business with Levelhike in the future!

To start with, so far as of this writing, this nifty little cable has saved me not only from having to spend an additional $100 for other specialty cables and such. The picture quality has been incredible, and two and a half months in, this cable seems to work very well each time I play a game, and even has the convenient "No Signal" text box scrolling around when not detecting input to keep my TV from having any burned-in images, which is very nice! I also like that I have the option to switch to 4:3, which is where I have it set at, as I don't like having to deal with stretched images very much. Another great aspect of this product is just how easy it is to hook up your own power source, with the cable already provided, only requiring a purchase of a 5 volt USB adapter for stability. The setup is very simple and straightforward, and the best part is that this cable actually works! I just had a Hyperkin 3-in-1 cable not long ago, and was terrible with those annoying checkerboard patterns that I'm not experiencing with this cable. Overall, if you want a quality RGB to HDMI cable without spending a fortune on specialized cables, or expensive mods that are very risky to install, this is what I can happily say is the cable for you! As a bonus to everything I mentioned above, the games actually look better than their virtual console counterparts in the quality department with a more accurate aspect ratio, and comparable quality image. This is perfect for those like me who want to play Lufia II or Chrono Trigger without worrying about either there being no virtual console to get these anymore, and bad quality picture from composite or RF cables. UPDATE: 7/31/2020 The customer support from these guys are amazing, and will go above and beyond to make sure they deliver you a quality product! These cables are the way to go if you want to play SNES games in HD without any hassles!!

There are several types of these cables on the market at the moment. Some have issues with sound, don't have an aspect ratio switch or upscale from av or svideo. This is by far the best bang for the buck of any of them I've seen. It does have a slight motion blur effect on your character when you move. I noticed it when playing almost ever game I tried but I found that mixed with the Gam3Gear Scanline Generator this cable really shines and the blur doesn't really even bother me and I barely notice it. I have two high end PVM's with an RGB modded Snes Jr setup in my gameroom so I know a quality picture when I see it. The best picture via a standard original Snes for the dollar amount is with this cable. You can get a OSCC or a RAD2x but you are going to spend a lot more or have to wait on restock. For 30 plus another 35 for the Scanline Generator I really can't recommend this enough. If all you want to spend is the 30 on this cable then it looks pretty amazing on its own. I cannot wait to get more cables from LevelHike! Good job guys! Testing Suite: Capture Card: Magewell Pro Capture HDMI (Linux, PCIe, used for both HDMI and S-Video Capture) Monitors Tested: - ASUS 1920x1080 VC279 IPS (5ms g2g) - TCL S525 55" TV VA (10ms Response) - Toshiba 20vl43u (S-Video Control, my daily driver, 16ms Response) Consoles Tested: - SNES Jr. with Voultar RGB Mod - SNES (Full Size) with a 1-Chip Power Delivery: LevelHike was externally powered using various types of USB PSUs (Apple, Samsung, and Asus with various amperages) SNES uses a real 1st party PSU First off I want to say I had medium expectations for this product. I thought that it would look better than my current S-Video setup but not be as good as say a Framemeister, OSSC, RetroTink, or Rad2x. At first glance you may be pleasantly surprised by the results, however when you start playing a game you notice some artifacting that doesn't make a whole lot of sense and it just ruins an otherwise decent product. Let's get into the details. Moving vs Standstill (Pictures Attached) - Standing still the picture is razor sharp at 720p, it puts my S-Video output to shame (and it should, it is using the RGB on the SNES to do the upscaling/line doubling) however when you move the picture studders and becomes plasticy, I assume this is because of some weird filter or interpolation. This really kills the experience. Studdering / Deinterlacing Issues There is a very weird issue (and it may have to do with the above) when you move between menus it studders the pixels or 'shakes' making it look very choppy. I tried various settings in relation to this on my displays to make this work and to no avail. It would seem whatever deinterlacing engine they are using is just bad and causes a weird subpixel shift in between frames causing a shake, it was actually pretty nauseating. (I wish I could show this in a meaningful way, but doing a frame-by-frame analysis shows that it is indeed shifting pixels up and down every other frame, leading me to blame a bad deinterlacer so screenshots would be of no use here) Input Response (Actually a Positive Here) While I do not have a setup to test input response, it felt about the same or better as my Toshiba on my more modern displays. I was able to do a minimum heart blind fight (Link to the Past) with no issue which is fairly input heavy fight in the game and any significant input lag will result in death. So while it isn't better than a CRT, it would be fine for speedrunning maybe outside of like, Mario. Overall, I'm disappointed. I wanted these to be a good intermediary solution until the Rad2x becomes more available because my setup is a mess and it is aging to the point where my old TVs, spliters, and switches are becoming finicky and wanted to migrate to a full HDMI setup. Unfortunately these need work, they are so close to being a perfect GA product but miss the mark on really significant details. It's also unfortunate that Retrovision, Rad2x, and other quality lag-less doubles/scalers are always out of stock, because of that people turn to stuff like this because it is easy to obtain. I wish the makers of those products would license and distribute their products so that we don't have to be here returning a product in frustration and just enjoy our classic games.

RGB upscalers can get pretty complicated (and expensive), so I was pleased to see this simple little cable go straight from SNES to HDMI for a reasonable price. It only goes up to 720p, but it’s HDMI, so my TV and projector can take it from there. I’m no expert in image quality, but it’s loads better than using analog composite video directly, which was the only other option I could afford. But for a while, I couldn’t seem to get it to work at all. I just kept getting a black screen, and I couldn’t figure out why. I had some back and forth with LevelHike support, who were great about getting me a new cable to try out, but it behaved exactly the same. As it turns out, it doesn’t work for me in any 4K-capable HDMI input. I know it’s not a 4K cable, But other sub-4K inputs seem to work fine on my devices, but not this one. I found a 1080p-only port on my TV and it works great on that one, but none of the 4K-capable ports. I have a projector that only supports 1080p and it works there as well. But my A/V receiver supports 4K on every input, and only ever shows a black screen. It works great on my capture card, which only supports up to 1080p. All in all, I really like this cable, and I’m glad to add it to my in-progress streaming setup. But the 4K incompatibility keeps me from giving it 5 stars. It’s frustrating to have limited connectivity options, but as long as you have an input that maxes out at 1080p, this should work out great!

This adapter is the easy way to get your old SNES console up and running on your modern TV via HDMI. Picture quality and response is great... not super duper like you'd get if you spent tons of time and money setting up RGB output and such, but good enough for most people considering how easy this is to setup. Simply power the device with a USB port from your TV or any USB power adapter (phone charger, etc.) then plug the adapter into your SNES multi-out port. Select the aspect ratio that you want using the switch on the adapter, and connect it to your TV with a regular HDMI cable. If you have multiple classic consoles you might want to get a more generic adapter (that allows S-video and RCA composite inputs rather than using the proprietary Nintendo connector), but if you want to keep the setup as simple as possible this is the easiest way to go.

The picture quality is a great improvement over the Yellow, Red, and white composite AV cables that come with a Super Nintendo. When you hook up an old system to a new HDTV with composite or RF video the picture tends to be kind of fuzzy or washed out. Hooking my Super Nintendo up to my TV with this though did the trick. The picture is clearer and the colors are greatly improved. I have an old 16:9 Pioneer Pro-1010HD plasma, a 1080i/720p monitor that has limited options for squeezing 16:9 images, and making them 4:3. Most modern HDTVs, including my Sony KDL-48W600B have no problem with squeezing 16:9 images to 4:3. Technically this particular cable outputs a 16:9 720p image, so make sure your TV can squeeze the image properly. You can test this by watching a blu-ray and trying to make it 4:3 (bars on the side)... if your TV can do that- then get this one. If your older TV cannot do this, there is a newer model of this cable with a switch that toggles between 4:3 or 16:9. After purchasing the older version and wanting to hook my SNES up to my secondary Pioneer TV instead of my main Sony TV- the company contacted me after posting my review and sent me the new version. That's really awesome of them and it works great. Again, if your HDTV is less than 5 years old- it shouldn't be a problem with this one. If you have an older TV that has limited aspect ratio sizing options go with the other one. This unit comes with an HDMI cable, and a micro USB power cable. You will need to supply a usb charging plug- like one that comes with your iPhone or Android to power it. Anyway, it's a great way to get your old game looking great on your HDTV

The cable causes very severe input lag, making games unplayable. I’ve contacted the support for a exchange or refund, and they only refunded the 3$ import fee - not the order itself. They haven’t responded to any of my emails afterwards. Very disappointing. I do not recommend this cable or seller.

It arrived quickly and have no issues with it as yet (2 weeks of use). I only say that as I have bought a similar product from Amazon before (cheaper), and although it worked for a few weeks, it started to go retro coloured.

igot this one because i thought most expensive was better but made a mistake
