XM-L2 D40A Cree 980 Lumens LED Flashlight, Black

Excellent torch in all respects except for the one continuous but negligible issue everyone has with the lanyard attachment point (an issue which is of no importance to me, personally) . I am a long-standing Flashaholic and this torch has become my go-to flashlight for general use. Moonlight mode is excellent, and with a 39-43mm diffuser it provides a great emergency light.With Panasonic Eneloops it provides a solid base of light which is highly adaptable according to the user's preferences. With standard AA batteries, it also maintains high standards of use that make it an excellent choice to have in the house or vehicle. The twist-out feature ensures there is no parasitic drain which makes it a perfect light for emergency use too - one will always have power from a fresh set of batteries.Highly recommended.

Prepare to be blown away by this flashlight. I read reviews on similar type/style flashlights utilizing AA batteries, chose the D40A, and have been de-lighted with my decision. Its performance is truly stunning. The control buttons are easy to operate and switching from one intensity to another or to one of the flashing modes is quick and easy to learn. The one lumen "moon" setting is perfect for reading in a tent at night. Once you buy one, you're going to want to "turbo" night into day just for the fun of it.
