This is the best authentic, actual, Oyster Sauce. Yes, the label states that this is, "Premium Oyster FLAVORED Sauce", but that description's meaning is not like what we are used to in the US with US labeling. Generally, when something is labeled, "flavored", then the product has ingredients that attempt to mimic what the real product tastes like. Well, with this Lee Kum Kee oyster "flavored" sauce, the flavoring is actually OYSTERS. And so, the description is verified by the ingredient list that puts "oyster extractives" as the first, and primary, ingredient. This oyster sauce is one of the rare few where the first, and thus most abundant ingredient, is OYSTERS. And that makes all of the difference between sauces that attempt to mimic and imitate actual "oyster sauce", and the real deal Oyster Sauce. Real Oyster Sauce main ingredient is, and should be, OYSTERS. This Lee Kum Kee oyster sauce is the real deal. The flavor is deep, not fishy at all. It has a distinct ocean shellfish flavor, and that's the point and intent of oyster sauce. By concentrating oyster's flavor and combing that with sweetness with real sugar, the sugar accentuates the natural sweetness of shellfish, and in this case, oysters. As a concentrated flavor sauce, yes it is salty. And that's on purpose. As all good and great cooks know, many foods require cooking time in order to extract the full depth of flavor from the ingredients in many dishes. For example, to make the best chicken soup, you can't do it if you don't use the whole chicken with skin, fat, bones and all. And all of that chicken goodness needs time to simmer and simmer and simmer in order to extract and concentrate the flavors. Products such as oyster sauce means that someone else has done the time intensive work to create that deep, luscious, concentrated flavor of oysters, sugar, soy, and salt. As a concentrated flavor ingredient, oyster sauce is not used like a dipping sauce. This is an ingredient, a prominent flavor, that is added to others ingredients to create dishes that have that depth of flavor that long, "low and slow", cooking achieves. It is a great and wonderful thing that we can get this excellent oyster sauce without having to get oysters and all of the other ingredients, and then all of that into a pot, then letting it all cook and simmer for a long time in order to get that wonderful, rich, flavor explosion. All we have to do is get a bottle, take out the amount we need for the dish we're making, and instantly we add a flavor that takes a much longer time to achieve. And we can do that in just a few seconds it takes to open the bottle, take out some sauce, and putting it into the dish we want to make awesomely delicious. I use this oyster sauce for most of the stir frys I make, especially beef and broccoli. This sauce is so great that I have experimented with adding it to many other dishes such as curry dishes, soups of all types, stews, as well as beef chili, chili make with grilled chicken, and in anything where an extra flavor kick is wanted. Try some of this sauce in other recipes and dishes you make. You will find that it adds excellent extra complimentary flavor/s to dishes that never had oyster sauce as an ingredient. Oyster sauce may not work in everything, but it works i many things. Try it and discover for yourself if you like it or not. Just remember, this sauce is a concentrated flavor bomb product. When experimenting with adding it to recipes, start with a little at first, and make sure to adjust the recipe's salt amount, because as this sauce is concentrated, it has and it adds a good amount of salt. This is exactly what you're looking for. This is the real deal and you get that restaurant quality flavor, not too thick consistency and that perfect umami you're hoping for! Prior to purchasing this, I had been buying a well-known brand that my grocery store carried, but it was a gelatinous imitation and "flavored" without any real ingredients. So glad I purchased this brand! Better taste, quality ingredients, convenient squeeze bottle and a good experience with the sellers. Will purchase again. Highly recommended!

Lee Kum Kee has the best overall quality and authentic Asian flavors in all of their brand's products. Only slightly higher price than the inferior other brands. Oyster sauce is no exception with a deep oyster flavor and thick consistency. Leave the rest and buy the best!
