    An Old Reliable

I've been availing myself of this product since, well, since I'd rather not say. But a long time. It does exactly what it promises, no more no less. The fluid may be (?) largely alcohol, I don't know. But like tens of thousands of others I've been using this product for decades without any deleterious effect on my styluses, and the cleaning wand works great. For all I know it may be a slightly modified (or unmodified!) mascara brush, but it has passed the test of time. Using it carefully on my cartridges, whether an Ortofon or Dynavector, has never caused a problem.Now, let's talk about the quality of the bottle. Come on Record Doctor folks, the people here complaining about the screw on cap are correct. It is a piece of garbage and very easy to break. Once you break the cap the unusual shape of the bottle which is aesthetically pleasing if the cap is on & acting as a seal presents a real problem. The bottle is easy to knock over, and that quality combined with the piece of refuse cap is a problem. FIX IT.BTW, use the cleaner when the TT & cartridge are active. You need to use a light touch and I find having the sound on guides me away from putting on too much pressure.

The cleaning fluid works and removes all the dust and debris that get attached to my stylus. It smells a lot like alcohol, so it may just be that with some other chemicals mixed together. The only thing I don't like is that the bottle is easy to knock over because of it's shape...not very well balanced. Otherwise, it does its job at an affordable price.

Lid was flimsy and cracked while screwing it on the first week. Maybe it cleans the needle well. Probably I'd rather put rubbing alcohol in a mascara container. I'd look for a better option.
