How long are the shafts? Are they round? Are they 1/2"?

overall the total lengths are 7 1/16th inch to 8 1/8 inch long depending on the type of chisel - the shafts I have are octagonal - I'm not doing in the round carving just relief - currently I'm working on hard red sandstone 2 and a quarter feet long by 9 inches thick the chisels have held up well for the rough outlining and I've utilized them all with no problems or sharpening and the hammer feels good in the hand too

Can i use these on soapstone?

Yes. But soapstone is very soft so be careful!

Could these be used on granite?

You will need carbide tipped chisels for granite.
