I did everything by the book and I did not see a single blade for a full month. After a full week of heavy rains in the Chicago area, I have green grass everywhere! The last two weeks I have had new grass sprouting everyday. I have no idea why it took 6 weeks but it did work. I am giving it 4 stars because it took so long. I will be re-purchasing next year.(First review) I desperately need my money back!!!!! I spent hours raking and tilling my lawn. I purchased two 10 lb bags. I spread linearly and lightly covered with soil. I have been watering daily. We have had several 70 degree days and I do not have a single seed sprouting. It has been 2 weeks...... Very upset!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Grows in dense shade? How dense? *by M***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 2, 2019* Bought the 10lb. bag (which is a lot of seed) and have gone through about four rounds of planting my problem shady area in the last four months. For three of the four rounds the soil was raked well, sown heavily, covered lightly with screened steer manure, then kept moist by watering quickly several times daily.The first round in August heat sprouted incredibly fast. Like four days fast! The last round in December cool was more like three weeks! On one of the plantings I omitted covering the seed and not much came up at all. Lesson learned.In each successful case, the grass grew quickly once it germinated. So quickly, that it got too long to mow in no time. That is, this grass gets tall and flimsy, then lays over flat so a mower can't cut it. Solution is to mow early when it's just over 2" tall.So, after four attempts and three successes with planting, the grass comes up strong and then peters out in a few weeks.Conclusion: My shade is too dense.
