Perfect..
Been running this for a month or two now, and I have no complaints. I have it hooked up to my PC via HDMI and also with an optical connection, the optical is a good fallback option, since it's more consistent. There's nothing wrong with the HDMI (which I use 99% of the time), but PC and GPU manufacturers don't really consider HDMI audio a priority so it can have some bugs. For example, I have my monitor connected via display port and I get my audio from the HDMI port to the receiver, and when my PC screen goes off, to sleep or whatever. so does my HDMI audio, since my PC thinks it's another display. Sometimes the PC also drops the HDMI connection randomly when the PC is doing something, like when I use my VR headset the PC loses the HDMI connection to the receiver for a few minutes afterwards. When this happens I just switch to the optical connection for a while if I'm too lazy to restart the PC. But I've had no problems at all with the receiver itself, it does everything flawlessly. Atmos is great, I stuck a few small speakers on the ceiling to get the 5.1.2 surround. This is definitely a great budget way to get Atmos. Sure if you're an audiophile and you want that extra 3% better sound you could probably pay the extra few hundred quid and get a higher end receiver, but this is plenty good enough for the average person. I rarely go above 60/89 on the volume for normal usage, and at level 65 I can hear it all over the house.

A 2019 receiver with all you need for Atmos and DTS-X.
This receiver ticks all the right boxes and most importantly has real Atmos and Dts- X as well as supporting many other formats. It's a 7.2 and does Atmos in a 5.1.2 and 5.2.2. It also does real Dts-X and Neural-X so no need to worry about about movies having different audio as it has all bases covered. It runs cool and looks the part. I had an easy time getting it set up but for people new to this it's best to do a little research in the various AV forums to get an idea on how to get the best results especially for up firing speakers. It comes with a calibration mic for easy setup. The remote is not bad but can take a while to get the button locations in memory. A 3 pin UK plug adapter plug was needed as my receiver had a 2 pin plug. I bought the Onkyo SKS-HT588(B) speaker package to go with this receiver and they make a wonderful pairing. The Atmos and Dts-X work great in my room after researching on how to get the best results in various AV forums. Helicopters, planes, thunder, wind and storms can be heard overhead as the sound envelopes you in a bubble. It's truly a step up from Dolby 5.1.

Brilliant bit of kit.. however, buyer beware on Sub-Woofer
Love this. have it on a new LG telly, Sky box and it just works great. However.....I purchased this to replace an older model , the Onkyo HT-R390 which developed a dry joint on one of its circuit boards, so whilst repair was possible, decided to just replace it and keep the existing speakers which are fine... or are they??????? My old Onkyo HT-R390 had all the amplification for all speakers built in. So all had just speaker wire. This one has RCA connector for Sub woofer and that means the sub woofer needs its own amplification. This is not just a case of rca to speaker cable. Also it appears damage can be done by connecting the wrong type of secondary amp to power the old subwoofer. So, buyer beware, you can not just drop a new Onkyo into the same speaker setup as the 10 yr old system. Time to buy a new sub woofer. DOH!!!!!

Easy to use and setup
Connect inputs and outputs and switch on. There is an on screen display to run through the setup process, and a microphone supplied, but this is not very good. if you have a better one I think this would help. So far I'm happy with this unit and it's a good option to get into Atmos, just need to get a decent set of speakers now. As mine are from an all in one dvd system, which are small and easy to place but don't offer the best out of this receiver

Too buggy
Jesus I’ve been using it for a day now. And it’s been the buggiest device I’ve ever owned. From random cutouts to losing signal to “Check sp wire” error message. The delay when you change the source is extremely annoying. One thing for people with ocd- when you change volume or source it shows on your tv screen on the bottom right corner. This didn’t bother me, but may bother others. The remote is light made with cheap plastic and rubber buttons- I doubt it will last long. Oh and I’m using new 2.1 hdmi cables with this. Seriously -Avoid like the plague.

Could be better
OK but doesn’t enhance ATMOS to any great degree. Onkyo should give specific instructions on how to get the best out of this product and not assume that we’re all technophobes.

Rapporto qualità prezzo secondo me imbattibile.
