The correct transformer for vintage Japanese hifi
I use this to run a Japanese market Denon DP-3000 turntable. It's perfect. Zero problems.

HAKKO? JAPANESE TOO? WORKS GREAT WTF WOW
I use this with a 100 volt Hakko desoldering gun, and it has been great! Absolutely no issues whatsoever. My hakko runs flawlessly with this.

Perfect transformer for my need, but mine was maybe used/a return?
This is exactly the transformer I was looking for (switching US 120v to Japanese 100v on a vintage JDM turntable), and at a decent price (many transformers for sale aren't clear on whether they change the voltage up or down or both ways in their descriptions, and do not adequately describe how they "transform" the power). I've run the unit for awhile and it doesn't get too hot so that's also a plus. Very easy to use. My only gripe is that when I received it, the fuse was already blown and it wouldn't turn on. Took me a few minutes to figure out what was wrong with the unit; spare fuses came with the unit so once I swapped one out it has worked fine. It's just "odd" that this happened, I feel as if I was sent a returned unit.

Works as it should, no issues, very tight socket.
So I got this to use for my Japanese region Marantz CD Player. Right out of the box, it's heavy, and comes with two extra fuses. One was shattered as other comments had stated since it was in a tiny baggy tapped on the side of the unit. No big deal. Plugging in your unit to this is at first "questionable" because it is verrrrry tight, the prongs fit so snug. You have to move the plug up and down while pushing it in but once it goes in its IN. Since I bought this never had any issues of overheating or my CD player overheating from this. I would recommend if when you go to sleep to turn it off since it's probably just best not to have it constantly on. Overall very happy!

Disappointed. Part does not work and panel broken.
Forward of the bottom panel was prying out. Turns out the plastic screw adapters on the inside were broken. Also tried to use it, light turned on for 3 seconds, and then turned off. Would not turn back on. Typically I wouldn't give a really bad review, but it was clear as day that it didn't even go through any quality assurance inspection because the panel was clearly broken and not caused by shipping.

Great for JDM electric appliances.
Exactly what we needed to use an air purifier we bought from Japan. No issues whatsoever. It's been a few months and it's going strong. I think there were some slightly cheaper units, but this one had consistently good reviews. For something like this you definitely want good build and engineering because without it whatever you plug in to it becomes useless and sometimes that means expensive useless. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you need to check how much your appliance is going to draw before buying any transformer and plan to get one with the appropriate rating. This unit is rated at a max of 200 Watts. Keep in mind that transformers/power supplies, in general, work optimally at about 50% of the rated maximum load. Any more than 50% and not only is the unit less efficient, it will physically start to heat up and all the extra heat/work will shorten its lifespan and blow the fuses. For my appliance I knew it wouldn't pull more than 100 Watts (I think mine was rated at a max of 80 watts), so I knew this 200 Watt model would work very well. Also of note is that although it steps-up and steps-down, it only has the Japanese 2 prong outlet. So you'll need an adapter if you want to use it to step-up and plug in a US 2 prong or 3 prong.

Works great for Japanese game consoles in the US!
I have a Japanese Nintendo Super Famicom game console from the 1990's, with an aging OEM Japanese power supply rated for 100V input. Before I got this transformer, whenever plugged into my American wall outlet, which supplies 120V, (or an extension cord coming out of the wall or a surge protector,) it would become very hot within hours, even while the console was powered off for those hours! Now, with this transformer in the mode that steps down from 120V to 100V, my Super Famicom still works great, and the power supply stays relatively cool - especially since the switch on the front of the transformer makes it easy for me to turn it off when not in use. Of course, since the Super Famicom is probably only pulling 8.5W max, I am waaaaaaay under this transformer's power budget, and am not pushing it very hard, it's also only seeing use for a few hours per day (while I'm playing only), a few days per week. But, it does work great! I also appreciate the extra included fuses, but I haven't needed them yet thankfully.

Funciona bien perfectamente
