It holds an entire load of laundry!
Perfect for an entire load of laundry. Great for draping blankets over it, just make sure your stand is balanced. I love it. This is actually my second one for at home, the first one is semi retired and lives in the RV now with plenty of life left in it.Highly recomment!

Up-Close Photos, How To Fold and Heavy Use Review
I've used this 2-3 times per week since I moved to a smaller city apartment and it's held up nicely.HOW IT WORKS (SEE PHOTO 3)The easiest way to store is to fold each of the extension wings inward toward the center, then tie the wings together so they don't fall forward if it's flipped upside down (See links below. I had several of these ties laying around and one ended up being used for this purpose).Turn the unit upside down so the side with the folded wings now faces the ground and the legs with rubber stoppers faces up at you.On the leg that does not have the metal joint (see attached photo), push toward the opposite side and you'll see the joint break and the unit collapse flat.DIMENSIONSThe actual measurements are in the description, but as a rough guide, it comes just above my thigh. If you have IKEA shelves, see the photo as a comparison. When folded flat it fits perfectly under our loveseat size sofa. It's 2-3 inches thick when folded down and the width between the wires is almost exactly the same as a credit card.OVERVIEWThe center section has 8 wires and 2 bars to hang larger heavier items from. I've had no problems filling this section with two pairs of jeans per line, as some suggest it can't handle the weight this has never been the case for me. The entire unit is a painted metal, including the wire (not nylon or cable) cords that run between the frame. The hinge allows it to quickly be flattened to store under the sofa (we live in a small city apartment). See attached photos for additional clarification.PHOTOS:1: A close up of the individual wire attachment. You can see the weld is roughly 1/4 - 1/3 inches wide.2: A size comparison while folded. You can see an Amazon Kindle (roughly the size of a mass market paperback) in the photo.3: How the unit collapses flat and you'll see the blue tie I use to keep the extensions from coming lose when I'm not using it.4: Height comparison when unfolded with a popular IKEA shelfTIES I USE FOR EXTENSIONS Nite Ize GT6-2PK-01 Gear Tie Reusable 6-Inch Rubber Twist Tie, Black

Holds lots of clothes and top does not drop down from weak joints
Having seen a similar looking drying rack in action while I was in Germany, I came home looking for drying racks.I choose this because it is the only one I found on amazon that has the "X" shape leg instead of the "/\" shape leg. That is important because "/\" leg versions all have the top horizontal rack fold up like dog ears, in which I see potential problem of the horizontal racks dropping back down if/when ever the joint at the tip of the "/\" leg becomes loose from use and age, a problem I've read in reviews of other drying racks. This one seems to have a bigger horizontal hanging area, but without any further vertical parts that would easily catch wind like a ship sail, and topple over, which I also read about. That is also important because my aim is to sun my laundry and some winter things outdoor in summer sun and wind to sanitize them. This is not the same one as the one I used in Germany. It is lighter, but it is very similar, and does the job well. It folds up nice and flat and can be easily carried back indoor with 1 hand, while the other hand carries the basket of laundry. It has only been a couple weeks since I got this, so I cannot report on the longevity of it, or how fast it rusts. Since it does my most important requirement, I'm sure when it starts rusting or joints failing, I can find a way to fix it up and keep using it for as long as its metal frame will hold.It comes in an all-around plastic shrink wrap, with 4 plastic install-your-self "feet" to prevent scratching floors when using it indoor. The rest of it is metallic.

Indispensable!
You can take away my dryer - just don't touch this drying rack.I grew up in Germany, where the majority of people line dry clothing. After living in the US I cringed every time I had to load the dryer. It just made no sense to me to shove my clothes in a black hole when the sun was out. Every time I cleaned out the lint trap, I cringed even more. This was stuff coming off the clothing, linens and towels I like. With every drying cycle, things were more worn, the materials getting thinner. So it didn't take long until I fashioned my own clothesline spanning from tree to tree.Over the years, I moved up to one of those 'stick the pole in the ground spin around contraptions'. Those work well, but since I prefer my whites to be in the sun and the darks to be in the shade, so not to bleach them, I didn't have that option. This rack is fabulous and exactly what I had in Germany. It easily holds a large load of laundry. It is sturdy - even left it out in the rain before and no rust yet. (I've used it for over a year now). Lightweight enough to easily move it. It fits through a standard door without having to fold it. It is attached to my hip and constantly in use. Drying clothing on the screened porch, the concrete pad and during prolonged bad weather, even in the house. So many benefits to line drying: Line dried laundry smells fresher. The sun turns the whites whiter. All those electricity dollars saved! My friends are still suspicious - what about the bugs and stuff? Easy fix - I take the laundry off the dryer rack, toss it in the electric dyer for 5 minutes, which gets bugs and wrinkles out, and voila. The only hassle was finding it. I finally stumbled across it by accident due to an amazon suggestion on my search page. Manufacturer: Had you included the word 'clothes' or 'clothing' in your product headline - I could have been happy with it 10 years ago.
