Ehh it’s ok for what it is
The media could not be loaded. Ehhh I didn’t have the highest expectations for this anyways, but it’ll have to do for the thing I need it for which is just for my kid’s bday party. The texture is interesting. The underside is like the lining that tacks under furniture but plasticy and smooth on top. It’s comes rolled and then folded in half, so the wrinkles are pretty bad. The manufacturer should really wrap this around a paper towel roll type of thing.I might try to carefully use a garment steamer on this to try and smooth it out.

I Found the Treasure
Arrr, maties... Legend be havin' it that before Redbeard set sail for Tuna Island, he raided a galleon of all it's doubloons! With the Commodore hot on his tail, he sought out a place to bury his booty before scuttlin' off to rest his booty! Harr harr harrrrrrrrrrr! That be a little pirate joke! After buryin' his treasure, he dipped the tip of his hook in ink and began to scrawl this map. Once in port, he murdered his crew so them scalawags could never return to Sigmoid Island and molest his booty! What he wasn't knowin' was that me great great great grand pappy was in his crew and escaped the massacarrrrrrrrrr... My great great great grand pappy ran and hid under a pile of bloomers that had been left by a few wenches that were brought along to service the crew at a port they penetrated in a storm! Once Redbeard was off the ship, great great great grand pappy broke into Redbeard's cabin and stole the map along with some rum and a few ledgers that actually turned out to be books full of naughty drawings of various cabin boys in compromisin' positions (usually beneath Redbeard himself whose carpet really did match the drapes)! But anyway, havin' salt in me veins and a hunger for buried treasure, I went to searchin' every low-budget diner and fillin' out every kids' menu with crayons when I finally rediscovered this map! Fer bein' a old treasure map, it's very sturdy and fun ta work with! After findin' me treasure, I use it to hide treasures for me little ankle biters and draw landmarks on this here map so they can run around and hunt their own treasures! This here map... It be fun a kitschy for the childrens! It ain't got many uses but as a toy and a placemat, but it still be fun! An' best you be rememberin', X marks the spot... It be an X, not a staaarrrrrrrrrrr....

Cautiously Optimistic
I do like the map image... and that's about where it ends. It was described by some as similar to a placemat. In size - yes. But in quality I would say more like just the top layer of a placemat. It's VERY thin. Arrived rolled up but flat, so once unrolled it's got numerous ridges (although not actual creased fold lines). Hopefully those will smooth out over time to allow it to lay flat. I plan to use it in the center of the table for a party so I think $5 to $6 is probably a fair price - cheaper than a comparable full table cover, as it should be. It remains to be seen if it can be reused but I'm hopeful.
