A few things to keep in mind when using these: -Standard Pegboard hooks and baskets work just fine in the round holes, you don't necessarily need to purchase the more expensive Wall Control kits - you can save a LOT of $$ if you just want to use hooks or baskets -However, the Wall Control Shelves are extremely sturdy and can hold lots of weight, only if -You use the slat-mounted Wall Control Shelves and hooks and.... -The Pegboards are properly mounted Which brings me to my main gripe with these - unless your studs are perfectly placed, you'll have to mount these to your walls using either drywall or masonry anchors and that's a bad idea - because any advantage in weight they can support will be negated by anchoring them in something other than a stud - they will pull off if you want to hang heavy tools. So my solution was to purchase some boards, cut them to site, spray paint them black, then attach them to the studs then screw the pegboard into those. I also put some black plastic sheeting behind the boards so the white walls woudn't show through the slats in the Pegboard and it looks perfect. One Pegboard is holding about 80 pounds of stuff with ease. It took me a few weeks to mount all of these - I was careful to center and level them so they didn't look bad. I ordered two sets (4 panels total) and connected them all together for one 32 inch by 64 inch pegboard. **Q: Which hooks should I buy? I have tried multiple 1/4" hooks and none work.** A: They make these rubber pegboard hole gaskets and I bought them on amazon Pegitz Pegboard Peg Locks 50PCS (1/4 inch, Black) they have both sizes 1/4 and 1/8 inch. I bought them in white and they work great. Worth the extra investment for the smaller pegboard accessories. **Q: Could I hinge these together, to create a zig-zag formation, something like a dressing screen works, with multiple sets?** A: Yes. you could probably attach them together with piano hinges. It would require some drilling of holes on the sides of the panels. I would probably attach them together with some #8-32 short flat head machine screws and nylon insert lock nuts. You would lose some of the weight supporting ability by not having them secured to a wall, but they would still hold a fair amount of weight if needed. For strength I would try to keep the screw spacing at about every six inches. It would make a very interesting shoji style screen. **Q: Has anyone installed this to drywall only?** A: Yes. I used the anchors that came with it. It's holding up fine. I have a complete set of copper cookware on it. Also have several saute pans, also copper. I love it. I mounted it myself. It was easy to install. But, if you can get someone to help you, it goes faster. Much easier to have someone hold it while you screw it to the wall.
