## Description

Zinsser PERMA-WHITE Mold and Mildew Proof Interior Paint resists antimicrobial growth, is stain- and moisture-resistant and fully washable, making it ideal for use in bathrooms, kitchens, basements and more. The self-priming formula adheres to glossy and hard-to-paint walls and is low odor and very durable.

Review: Did a great job fixing mildew problem in humid bathroom. - We had a severe mildew problem in one of our bathrooms where the previous owner had painted with a non-gloss eggshell paint. Unfortunately, the vent doesn't work well in that bathroom and a lot of steam sticks around on the walls and ceilings after we shower. We had tried spraying with vinegar & water, and then later bleach & water mixtures and scrubbing away the mildew, but it left unsightly stains, and eventually the mildew grew back again. Finally, after looking at reviews all over the Internet, we purchased the Zinsser Perma-White mold & mildew proof interior paint. First we sprayed a bleach/water solution onto the existing mildew to kill it and wiped it away with a sponge. (I've read that you may be able to skip this step though). Then after the bleach & water mixture dried, we painted over it with the Perma-White. We painted an additional coat after the first coat dried just to even things out. We had no trouble painting our ceiling - the paint went on smoothly, and the small quart size was perfect for our bathroom (only about 60 sq ft). It's been 3 months, and there's no sign of the mildew growing back yet (we're in the middle of summer where it's extremely hot and humid). Normally it would be really bad by now. We're really pleased with the purchase.
Review: Great bathroom paint - We had an issue with the previous bathroom paint we bought when we redid the master bathroom. Before long we had a problem with mold. Since we used this paint we haven't had any problems at all, it looks great and anything that gets on the paint is easily wiped off. Very happy with this paint.

**Q: Can I use it to paint inside shower like the walls**
A: I wouldn't use on surface that would be hit by water such as shower wall, would need waterproof paint. I used on shower ceiling. Worked great for purpose it was designed.  No return of mildew.

**Q: If the bathroom is already white -- can you just use this? or do you need to use a primer first? like KILZ 2 ?**
A: I have used this paint successfully over other white flats, satins and semi-glosses without applying primer. This paint is amazing, and absolutely the best I've ever seen. Durability and keeping clean is better than any other brand I've used. Virtually lasts a lifetime. But.....please note:What you get here from Amazon is only. 1 quart; not a gallon. You would do much better ordering from Home Depot

**Q: Can I use this if there's existing/dead mold on the bathroom wall?**
A: For us, we first washed the ceiling as best we could. The majority of the mold came off but the ceiling was still still discolored. We then painted over with this paint. I think it's been two years now and the ceiling still looks great!

**Q: Can I use bathtub?**
A: If you're asking if it can be used to paint a bathtub, then no, absolutely not. It's not porcelain based nor waterproof, just mildew RESISTANT. The paint won't stick to the tub long with prolonged water abuse.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective but stinky

This product is surely going to do the trick with the mold and mildew of our bathroom...but there are a few issues.... it's stench is not what our family would consider to be "low odor," particularly with today's other 'modern' indoor paint that is virtually indistinguishable with its scent. But the odor of this is overwhelming - very chemistry class-like. I would recommend to only use it in a well ventilated area and continue ventilation for a few days. Additionally, if there are any color imperfections on your wall, you will either need to prime, lay a coat of regular white paint first, or lay two layers of this paint. But we bought it to eliminate our moisture problem, and I'm sure that goal will be met with success. Looking forward to NOT seeing the black patches in the corners and ceiling in a few weeks after having used this!!
