Brilliant Brits: Henry VIII Paperback – March 1, 2003

This book is not entirely what I thought it would be, but it turned out to be better. It's smaller than I thought it would be, not that it matters. It's written in kind of a comic book style in that there is some dialogue in the pictures that contributes to the story line. My kids love that kind of thing, and it really drew them in. I was glad that it was a book they could read on their own and that they wanted to. It drew me in, too. Instead of the quick skim that I had planned to give it, I read it all (not that it required much of a time commitment to do so). My kids remember Henry VIII much better than they do many of the other people we have studied. It's too bad there aren't more books like this.

Henry VIII has a gruesome story but he also played an important part in history. This book did a good job of lightly touching on the gruesome parts w/ out it being too much for kids.

Fun way to learn history

My 6 year old loves this and finds it interesting and fun. Historically it's pitched just about right to hold his attention without overwhelming him with what he would consider to be too much boring stuff. He has remembered and learnt loads from this small volume and I would recommend it as a first foray into this genre.

We bought this for my 9 year old son studying Tudors. Its a very readable book and my 5 year old enjoys listening to it equally. Felt it gave my son a good grounding for his school work, and a good point of reference for him to read on his own. Pictures are lovely too. A good buy!

My 5 year old niece is mad about Henry VIII & absolutely loved it. She thought she knew everthing about Henry until she read this book & especially liked learning that he slept on a big pile of matresses with a man sleeping at the bottom of his bed. Great read.

found it hard to get good books at good prices, could not find any on ebay and this is done in most primary years 5. this did the job and will I will keep for when other son does it at school too, can sell on ebay after, I am all for recycling!

When studing the Tudors in year4 this book was fantasic to read just as a book or to dip into for extra information. Young children doing homework on this subject would love this book because its so easy ro read and learn from.
