Yes the stay up. Very warm but hand wash in warm water only and spin dry after hand rinsing and theyvwill last. I did try wool wash 30 degrees but had to switch off after few minutes and put onto rinse function. In this way they last and last. Do not try full wool cycle or they shrink.

I am 6feet tall and they come up 3 inches below my knees. If your legs are a bit chunky you may find the tops overly tight. Hope this helps

They are truly knee-high but I'm not sure they would stay up all day - I always push them down into a pleasing concertina just above my ankles anyway.
