ETP's Essential Strategies for Success on the ISEE and SSAT: Middle Level

As the name describes, this book helps your student prepare for the ISEE test lower or middle level. This book has a limited number of questions, but its goal is to teach your child how to approach the questions, eliminate obviously wrong answers and get to the correct answer. Using this strategy book in combination with practice tests is the most efficient way to prepare for the ISEE. It is especially useful for students who do not have much experience taking these types of standardized tests.

Go with the IVY Global instead.

Essential Strategies for Success is quite useful and serves as an excellent resource for children preparing for the ISEE. The content is child-friendly, and as an educator, I see the positive results from children having used this tool. I highly recommend this prep book.

Definitely not for lower level. The example questions are so beyond the 5th grade level, our poor daughter was in tears thinking she was inadequate. Very disappointing. The strategies may be appropriate but if when they're applied to the questions, the questions are of information they've never ever seen or have the remotest idea about, they're useless.

Essential Strategies for Success is a wonderful tool. What is unique about this book compared to other ISEE prep books is that it is written in a language that children can easily understand. In addition to strategies for answering specific types of questions, it also helps students approach test with a positive mindset. As an educator and parent, I recommend this to children and parents preparing for any standardized test.

This book is a great manual if you are looking for an overview of what’s on the test and the best strategies to use. I purchased a few ISEE prep books, and this one is unique in that it isn’t piling on hundreds of practice questions. Instead, it just teaches the strategies to use on each section, and familiarizes the reader with the way the questions are asked.

As an educator, I highly recommend this easy-to-understand test prep guide. The strategies in this book will provide students with the tools that will enable them to access the knowledge they have and perform successfully on ERB's as well as on the ISEE. Compared to other test prep books, it is concise and relevant.
