Bike Brake Cable

I have no complaints whatsoever about these. I actually expected them to stretch a bit more during initial break-in, but any stretching was minimal and only required slight tightening using the knobs located next to the triggers.

These brake cables work well with my mountain bike. According to the ad they are “high” quality. I determined that they are stainless steel so in my opinion they are on a par with the premium cables on the market. They come complete with ferrules and tips. It should be noted that these cables should be installed by qualified persons with appropriate equipment due to the importance of brakes.

They are generally all the same wires with the same connectors on the end. Why pay 10x as much? The packaging was very simple. The included ferrules were not exactly what I needed, but my LBS was there for me on that. (These are really for replacing housing, anyway, which is not included.) New cables are great, but my LBS recommends that I also lube them when installing. Specifically take some bike grease, lightly wipe the bare cable before installing, or with the housing slipped away if that works for you, and then go over it with a very thin-bodied lubricant--pro lube gold, in my case. The result is a more slippery cable, also a bit protected from corrosion, although it is of course stainless steel. New cables are a great and cost-effective upgrade when the years have come and gone and the bike is still riding on :-). I don't replace them just because it's been a year. Those people probably don't buy aftermarket cables anyway.

However, if you require something more robust and dependable, particularly for more intensive riding, you might want to explore other options.
