Corgi CC05401 The Beatles Submarine, Yellow

Simply Beautiful!!! All my childhood memories came back. I actually had the original yellow submarine back in 1969, I think one year after the film was released. I was only five at the time. It got lost somewhere and I was crying. Now, after all those years, I suddenly saw it on Amazon; the perfect replica. And this time, I will treasure it and keep it very safe in front of me. An excellent replication the the Yellow Submarine. As other customers have said, the black buttons on the side must be pushed down for the Beatles to pop out. The periscopes at the top need to be adjusted so they fit deeper in order for them to revolve. Recommended if you're a fan of the film as the packaging is good too. Mine's staying in the box!

I decided to treat myself to this having received one for a present back in the 1960s. It brought back some wonderful childhood memories, with the four Beatles popping up out of hatches at the switch of a button! I wish I'd kept the original but sadly it got thrown out along with all my other corgi models as soon as I grew up and left home. For all of us who are still kids at heart this is a nice little model.

This is the 'Yellow submarine' film 50th anniversary version, I got it to replace an original slightly worn and loved 1968 one, which I had had from childhood, but regretted selling some time back. The only difference with the new one is underneath it has screws instead of rivets, and the hatch release catches are black rather than unpainted, otherwise it is identical. I am really glad this didn't have the awful red hatches of previous reissues of this classic model. I still think, as I did as a child, the red arrows for the catches was unnecessary in the first place, this version is authentic to the original but I still wish they were just the same yellow as the hull and then wouldn't stand out as much. The Beatle figures on mine look much more carefully painted than my original did, I couldn't decide if they had been re-sculpted for this issue or not. Very, VERY happy to have this wonderful little piece of nostalgia back on my desk.

Bought for a 40 year old, sometimes it’s fun to give something a bit different than the usual men type gifts, aftershave etc, that they probably buy for themselves anyway.

When I received this, I thought that the tabs to release the hatches were not operating. After contacting the seller I found out that, instead of pushing the tabs in as I was doing, I should push the tabs down. Voila! No problems. The submarine is beautiful and sturdy. The box is superb. Exactly as shown in the pictures. All in all I am very satisfied with this product.
