PetSafe Martingale Quick-Snap Dog Collar, Red, 3/4 in, Small

These collars are the best. I always use these for training my dogs because they are non-slip with the martingale feature and very well made. I've had them last the life of my dogs. They wear well and clean up easily if they get dirty. The snap function is a great feature in making it very easy to remove them without having to adjust the collar to get it over the head. I prefer these collars to choke types because although they prevent the dog from slipping the collar, they are not meant to choke the dog which can damage the trachea not to mention scare the animal and interfere with training. With standard buckle collars, they are great for regular wear but in terms of training, lacking the martingale feature leaves the chance of a frightened or stubborn dog the opportunity to slip the collar, which can be disasterous in a training situation. These collars are my number 1 choice for my dogs because they are safe, good quality, and great value.

This is an attractive, well-designed product. Most importantly, it enhances my dog's safety. Initially, I purchased a Guardian Adjustable Pet Collar from Amazon in the "S" size. That collar, in the "S" size, was only 5/8" wide, with a very flimsy nylon snap --- a snap that my dog (17 lb cairn terrier) and I could open by simply pulling on it! My next stop was this product, the PetSafe collar, also in the "S" size. This collar is a full 3/4" wide, has a sturdy, larger nylon snap, and cannot be opened accidentally. In addition, it has important safety features which prevent my dog from backing out of his collar while on a leash. Superb product, very reasonable price, good fit. And safe for my dog.

My rescue dog was wearing one of these when I first got her. She has several behavioral issues and for hers and others safety I realize now why this is the only collar for her- as she needs a collar that won't slip off and has the clip you can unlock when you need to take it off vs having to pull it off her head. And with her temperament a harness is not an option. Thank Petsafe for an affordable price point collar of great quality!

Collar arrived in good condition, does what it is supposed to do. I like martingale collars because they prevent dogs from backing out of the collar without it having to be tight all the time. You can't see it in any of the product images, but it does have a small plastic loop for ID tags; tags do NOT go on the main D-ring. The snap buckle is a nice addition for dogs that don't like things slipped over their heads. My one complaint is that it's a pretty big leap from the petite size (3/8" thick) to a small (3/4" thick, substantially heavier collar). My dog is just a bit too big for the petite size (12lbs, stocky dog) so we went up a size, but I don't think he appreciates the extra weight. He is getting used to it, but I wish they had a slightly larger maximum diameter for the petite size. Otherwise, it's a good buy.

I was having big problems trying to walk my puppy and someone suggested a Martingale collar. I searched and found this one and decided to give it a try. The price was right and it did work well. My puppy had been choking herself trying to pull me or trying to run away while on leash. This helped tremendously. The only issue was she outgrew it so quickly. Also with this vendor the color choices are few. I had to go elsewhere for a color I preferred when it was time to purchase a larger size.

I have a two year old Shiba Inu. Her previous standard collar measured 13" and her neck size was about 13". Following some of the recommendations of previous customers, I purchased the small size (other reviewers mentioned to go smaller when in between sizes). Even as a small, I still had to adjust it down to fit her, but adjusting was very easy. This is a great product. Its perfect for leaving on all the time, it gives me extra control over her (she likes to pull a bit during walks), and its very strong and well built. I highly recommend this product!

I bought a size small and was surprised at how wide the collar was. I’m thinking I may return this and find a smaller thinner collar that won’t take up my dogs whole neck. Other than that the collar seems to be of good quality, I just don’t like how wide it is for such a little dog.

I have been using and recommending martingale collars for more than a decade. The two styles are either like this one by Petsafe with a clasp closure or the other option which is a collar with no plastic closure that is placed over the head of your dog. The safety aspect of this type of collar is important to understand as it was created (initially for sighthounds) so sighthounds could not back their head of out a regular collar. It works for most breeds and I highly recommend this product.

After 5 years of trying different no-pull harnesses I decided to give this a try. My dog learned very quickly how to walk without pulling and now he's such a joy to take for walks that we are walking longer every day.

I got this collar in the red color, but it looks more like a hot pink. Other than that, it feels very sturdy and is easy to figure out.

Great collar. Very easy to attach leash and also has a ring for tags. The easy snap closure makes it quick to do up and undo for our dog that doesn’t wear his collar indoors. Size small was perfect for my 14lb. Havanese.
