Not Bad When You Need It
I was first given this as an inpatient at a local hospital as a supplement. I'm a choco-holic and tend to avoid other flavors if given the choice. However, at the hospital I pretty much got whatever flavor the dietary staff had on hand so I was "given" the opportunity to try the strawberry and vanilla flavors. So, I can categorically say I still like chocolate best if given the opportunity to choose.Does this taste like chocolate milk or a chocoate shake? Not really but in my opinion the chocolate flavor is not too shabby. I've done side by side taste tests with Ensure (which has been the expensive staple for many patients who had to be on a dietary supplement) and Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials mixed with Almond Milk and I prefer the taste of Boost over both. I couldn't tell you why exactly but it just seems to suit my tastebuds better. One note about the Carnation Essentials, which is the lowest on the taste meter scale, although the taste isn't as good, it might be a bit "healthier" if you need to restrict sugar intake. But most who are drinking these probably need the calories regardless of where they are coming from so ingredients like Corn Syrup and sugar which help to improve the taste and provide calories probably aren't a big concern. However, It'd be nice if, like Carnation's sugar free "Essentials", Boost and Ensure would drop the Corn Syrup (although Carnation uses artificial sweeteners in theirs instead of sugar so it becomes a tradeoff.)This, like Ensure and Carnation's Essentials does have a lot of basic vitamins and minerals with RDA's around the 25% mark so the how much one drinks can be planned against how much other nutrition is being taken in by the patient/consumer. One note about what's on the label, unless you have really good vision you'll need a magnifying glass to read what's in the bottle. I think these companies are using WWII microdot technology to print these labels. The bottle has a plastic wrapper that you have to have fingernails or a knife to get under to tear off. Ensure had a twist off cap with small plastic connectors that easily break when you twist open the cap and make it easy to tell if the bottle has been tampered with. The Ensure bottle is a bit easier to open in my opinion.Like all of these types of drinks, refrigeration is recommened. It thickens the drink up and makes it slightly more of a milkshake consistency. You can drink them at room temperature but it has the consistency of thin chocolate milk. It just depends on your preference.Product gets 4 stars for taste, minus about a half a star for not being a bit easier to open and a half a star for being a bit high priced.

Very Satisfied with This Product
I ordered this for my husband who is disabled and has awful eating habits but is a big fan of chocolate milk. I first gave it to him along with his breakfast, chilled in the bottle with a straw . He said nothing but after one sip he didn't touch it again. I am now getting it in him by mixing it half and half with whole milk. He doesn't realize what he is drinking and finishes every glass. I am writing this to advise that if the taste is somehow objectionable (it isn't at all to me but everyone differs), you might be able to use it this way or perhaps in a milkshake. It makes me feel better that he is getting at least one thing that is good for him and he does seem to have a gained a very slight amount of weight. I will definitely keep on using this and the reasonable price and home delivery makes ordering from Amazon very convenient.

GREAT PRODUCT - DOES NOT SHIP WELL!
I am the caregiver of my elderly mother who is under dr's orders to drink two Boosts a day. This is the second time I've ordered Boost from Amazon. The first time, the whole package came DESTROYED but the individual Boost drinks were salvageable. Thinking this was just a fluke, I ordered again. The package came with two cases of Boost packaged in a large box. The large box contained a few other small items as well. When the package arrived, the large box was not damaged and yet...this time the Boost boxes inside were opened and crunched. I had individual Boost bottles scattered all over loose in the box. One of the bottles had damage and leaked all over the contents of the box. What a mess.... Great product but I'll be buying this from Sams Club in the future.

Not a snack, really does replace a meal.
My parents are diabetic and they both seem to do well with this. Tastes tons better than other brands! My mom can't get around much and her stomach doesn't always agree with food, but she doesn't have a problem with this. My dad is pretty active and doesn't always slow down to eat and this works good for him. Seems to last as long as a meal would have before they get hungry (as opposed to others I've tried that seem to be like having a snack). I like it.

A New Pre-Surgical Regime
Much to my surprise, my surgeon's pre-surgical instructions were for me to drink 3 bottles of Boost or Glucerna for a week prior to my operation. He stated the protein would help prepare my body for the muscle repair that would need to take place after surgery. (I was to continue drinking it after surgery as well.) The only thing he failed to communicate was that there is a clear liquid version of both products that I would need to have on hand for the day prior to surgery when I needed to do a bowel prep. When I realized that it was too late to obtain any Boost Breeze, which is the name of the clear liquid Boost product because none of the large grocery chain stores or pharmacies keeps it on hand. They can order it; but, for me it would arrive too late.I like the taste of Boost over Glucerna, which is why I ordered both the vanilla & chocolate Boost. It's pricey & Boost Breeze is even more so; but, I believe under the circumstances I found myself that purchasing it helped me recover more quickly & reduce the amount of time I needed to take prescription pain medication.

Feel better drink...
This is good stuff and I started drinking it because it contains Vitamin B12 . B12 is a complicated vitamin and this is an easy way to get it into your system. I am sorta old now and am no longer full of vim & vigor so I can order from Amazon and get it delivered to my front door. No more carrying this heavy stuff on the long trek from the car to my house.

One of my favorites
I pretty much drink these all the time now, since I had issues years ago with stomach ulcers. It has a better flavor quality to me than Ensure or other brands. It has a smooth, creamy texture, and a full vanilla flavor that tastes good. They are extremely good when they are chilled in the fridge, but I have been known to drink one at room temperature if I forgot to refrigerate them, and I still love them. It's a great way to make sure you are getting vitamins AND minerals, since most multivitamins don't actually contain the necessary minerals your body needs.
