Great improvement over prior model
Great looking pictures, very smooth and from any reasonable distance (i.e., at least couple feet away) looks like a real photo. tricked a few folks in my office (about 1/2), who all thought it was a real photo on display. Light years ahead of the quality of the prior kodak 10inch model (which had comparably worse ability to display blacks and contrast from darks to lights). highly recommend. intuitive interface.

UNABLE TO ADJUST SETTINGS
Might be the most user-unfriendly electronic device I've seen in a while (and/or remarkably poor instructions, including those found online). Language came up in German and following manual verbatim does nothing to change that. I have a Kodak Easyshare 7-inch and it's a no brainer; just plug in jumpdrive and off it goes, works great. This 10-inch M1020 seems to display jumpdrive pictures or its default kodak promotion depending on wind direction...crazy. Take a Xanax before you try to set this guy up.BTW, this frame MAY NOT work with a jumpdrive larger than 8GB; not 100% sure due to erratic behavior of my unit with 1GB or 32GB jumpdrive. On the plus side, when the wind shifts and "my" pictures begin to display, image quality is good.

Clunky interface, shuffle feature not working, more...
So using amazons ratings as a good starting point for purchasing this frame i picked it up. I soon realized once open that the internal 128MB was worthless. I purchased (2) 4GB USB sticks to make compatibility as easy as possible for this was a gift for my 65 year old mother. I found the TOUCH interface clunky. I dread having to explain how this functions to my Mother after she receives it on the holiday. The interface is particularly unuser friendly wanting to default to the limited 128MB internal memory each time its started instead of defaulting to the USB card i have left inserted. For those of you who like TOUCH interfaces, this is no IPHONE or IPOD. The SHUFFLE feature does not work - this randomization of photos is most likely the #1 feature you could want on a device like this. Kodaks website - the software updates do not have release dates which makes if much more difficult to know if you are going to benefit from a particular download, especially for the non tech type persons out there. When wondering how to change the duration for each photo that was displayed for more then 5 seconds (default) the printed manual referred me to the "extended manual" located on kodaks website. The 1/4" non-extended kodak manual became worthless pretty fast though in typical Kodak fashion it was in seven languages. It's going to take some time to see how my retirement age parents are able to enjoy it. Another huge Kodak marketing misrepresentation. On the cover and the back they show two different people holding the frame as if it is cordless. With the impression that it can be easily passed around from person to person in a room. With the 6' cord tethering you to the frame this will be much more difficult then imagined while purchasing. No option for the frame to even run on a battery source. I've waited a few years for the prices to come down on these digital frames. It seems the software is still at 1.0 though, with the SHUFFLE feature the one thing that disappoints me the most. Every time the frame is started you have to start in order and you do get tired of having to see the same photos each time the frame is started. The color, brightness and contrast are very nice and the mat looks real enough and is apparently swappable. Also the Kodak chat feature for tech support was not open to answer my questions even though the site advertises 24/7 7 day a week chat support. Its an amazing technology that needs a few tweaks yet. Buyer beware. I'm having to give it 2 stars counter 3.5 it's currently averaging, though it could be 4 quickly with better software and more accurate marketing by Kodak.

Screen is a little dim and pixelated, but overall OK.The on-screen setup menu is very cumbersome to use.

The best truly multi-lingual frame with a bright screen
This picture frame, although not perfect, is the best one among such names as Sony, Philips, and others I researched. Its esthetics is superb. The black and white adds to picture's brightness. The finish is suitable for a wall and desktop applications. For people not fond of this looks, this unit comes with other inserts that go under the black, completely removable frame. Thus your can create your own finish! The technology is very good. The pictures look much, much better then in Sony's products. The additional features in Sony's products don't make up for the difference. If only the Kodak's menu could be easier then the competition's, too...Finally, the languages and world-wide power adapter (without plug converters) seals this as the best overall product. It seems to speak all languages of the Americas, Europe, and then some. All in all, great product. If not for the (on par with competition) menus this product would get 5 stars.

Good picture quality and sound! ; )
Very good picture quality, speakers sound good too. Is a beautiful addition to my family room. Just wish I knew how to put the pictures off of my phone on it. I'm sure I'll figure it out in time.

Poor product would not live up to it advertisment.
It was advertised to work with a flash drive; the flash drive could only be no larger than an 8gb; I spent over 6 hours on line with Kodak tech support and they were only able to determine that it worked well with a 8gb flash drive any thing bigger it device would nor support. I returned it to you.Frank Galiardi

Died in Four Months
We got this digital frame to replace a smaller 4-year-old model which had quit working. Thinking that the technology must have improved over the past four years we elected to purchase the Kodak 10 inch model rather than to repair our old digital frame of a different brand. The new frame proved difficult to program. Random shuffle was never random, and it displayed the same photos in the same progression every cycle and didn't display others at all. The frame died completely (white screen of death) after four months of use. There was no reviving it. We elected to set up the lap-top on the random shuffle photo display screen saver mode when we wish to display photos from now on. I think the technology has not evolved to the point where it is dependable and durable. I recommend avoiding the Kodak EasyShare M1020 in favor of other options.
