If tracing a sewing pattern, do you need to use a light table?

I have used this type of European patterns for years. You don't need a light box. Just a large table. When I actually had trouble seeing the pattern lines I used felt markers to outline the pattern put the paper on the pattern and easily traced it.

Can you see through very well to make patterns?

This is a very good racing paper. It should be very easy to make patterns with it. I use it to trace my sketches and transfer to watercolor paper. I like it very much.

can pins be used on it

Yes, you can use pins. It doesn't tear easily, which is amazing since it is so light and see-through. I draft my own sewing patterns using this paper. It is very durable to use over and over again.

Can I use this as a sew through quilt stencil? Will it tear easily from the fabric?

I had not thought of using this for a quilt stencil so I just tried it. I used a 3.0 stitch length and it tore easily. I had to pick a tiny piece out of a sharp point area that is created just using random stitching. Wow. Found another use for this great paper.
