Would the top box hold dnd 5th edition players handbooks

It will hold several 8 1/2 by 11 books, depends on the thickness. I do not play D&D so I do not know how many books you are talking about.

What is the maximum weight carrying capacity of this system?

I have owned this model several times and currently have one. I use it to carry catch all finishing items for my general contracting business. The lower bins are used for fastener storage (mostly screws). That said I am using it as a tool box not a tackle box. It weighs over 30 pounds. The result is that with usage it starts to break. First the upper black front handle (that secures the tan upper bin to the lower chassis) pops off/breaks and eventually the bins start to crack. If you baby it by lifting it with two hands instead of the main top handle it will last longer. I can't find a box other than this so I keep on buying them. They last about a year or two. For $30 bucks it is worth it. Buy it.

Does anyone actually use this as a tackle box and if so, would it be good for storing a lot of jigs?

It's my main storage for all fishing, fresh and surf. It's HEAVY when loaded. I don't lug it around. Instead it's my garage storage and I pick out the stuff I'm going to take on a trip. Yes, it stores a lot of jigs and it accepts a great add on box for spinners. The 4 drawers are a standard Plano size so you can buy more and swap around as you do different types of fishing.

What color is it? The picture and description don't match. Gray or green?

i was hoping for the blue/green one too. The tan and grey was what ended up in my cart.
