I this a hard/rigid case, or soft?

This is a hard case. Pretty solid. Only weak point is the wrist strap thing... I ripped mine off on accident.

will my audio technica ath-m40 studio headphones fit in this case?

They will fit, although snug. I have modded my ATH-M40x with larger Brainwavz HM5 Earpads and carry both my 10ft and 4ft cords without much difficulty. Side Note: I probably would no leave mine packed in this case for extended periods due to the memory foam earpads.

Does the case fit technics rp dj 1200 ??

For those headphones, I would go with the Slappa full sized case - the HP-07
