Clyde

Now I knew this was about a bear that wanted to “be bad” but ended up doing good before I bought the book for my son. Once I read it though, I was sorry I bought it as Clyde doesn’t really come around by the end of the book. I almost got the feeling that the other characters tolerate or humor his bad attitude. I’m sure adults will identify with doing that with our kids but the kids don’t seem to get that nuance. I’m left at the end of the book explaining what happened to my son. It wasn’t the aspect of human nature I really want to introduce him to at 8 years old. Your kid may be old enough to pick up on this but be forewarned.

I have a night-time reading date with my 6yo boy every night. He loves graphic novels / comic genre. He cracked up at this book, there were truly funny moments. That said, we knocked this out in less than an hour (2 nights reading). I wish it was longer, or had more stories... but I get why it wasn't, there was a lot of illustration in here. I'll likely buy another book in this series, but at $6 per book it's a bit of an expensive e-book for a few nights of fun.

This book was so enjoyable and very, very funny. The comedy was intelligent, droll and laugh out loud. I bought it for some nieces, but read it myself before I handed it over. So, so funny!

Fair to midland read - story wasn’t as funny or solid as I thought it might be from other reviews- just my opinion , cute art . Probably wouldn’t buy a Clyde 2 if it existed. I didn’t hate it but left something to be desired.

My kids really enjoy reading Catwad books - they are clever and hilarious. Sadly Clyde is just dark and strange. Neither my kids or me really enjoyed it.

Clyde is such a massive jerk, and that’s why we love him. Funny and a good lesson to boot. Never change. Not for anyone. Not for any reason.

The new Jim Benton graphic novel Clyde is HILARIOUS! Watching this adorable bear (whose grandmother is a turtle for some reason!) trying to be bad is the most fun thing ever! I especially loved his butterfly friend Melissa Sue, who has her own criminal past as a caterpillar!!! She helps Clyde learn that being a good friend and helping others is fun too! There is just no one as funny as Jim Benton! Another hit from YOE BOOKS!

We love all Jim Benton books. After discovering Catwad, we are now awaiting book 5 - meanwhile there's Clyde. Here's hoping Clyde is a series too.
