General Electric WE11X10007 Heating Element Repair Kit
This WE11X10007 repair kit was a perfect fit for the broken heating coil in our older GE dryer. The pic shown in the product listing above is a little different than the restring kit I received. It actually came with 6 of the WE1M307 metal insulating posts and 4 of the WE1M452 slide-in porcelain insulating blocks. The WE00X422 coil included in this kit is not sold as a separate repair part by GE anymore, but was the exact one needed for my older dryer. It is smaller in diameter than the newer style WE11X203 coil which won't fit through the insulator posts in my dryer's heating element housing without additional modification by compressing it over a 5/16" wooden dowel after pre-stretching. I've had to do this a couple of times before in a pinch, but it adds a good deal of time to the job, so wouldn't recommend doing it if you can avoid it. I find that I usually only need to replace one or two of the metal insulating posts, so the six posts included in the kit were more than enough for me, but if for some reason you happen to need to replace all 11 of them you can purchase the WE1M307 posts separately.

Mostly what you would expect
The element kit was close to what I expected. What I expected was all new element supports, since I saw them in the pictures. Turns out there are only 6 new ones, and it takes 11. I did not pay attention to how many were in the dryer before I ordered the element. I suppose they include 6 to allow for some of the old ones to be broken and to re-use the rest. Only one of my old ones was unusable as the element busted inside it and did some arc welding in there. I installed it using a new support for every other position to use all of the new supports. Put the dryer back together and it's a like a new unit. Very happy with the dryer now, and this purchase.

Works like a charm.
Dryers are relatively simple machines, no need to have a technician come out when you have Google, Youtube, and a really extensive parts selection on Amazon. Usually one of the two elements goes out first - when that happens it takes longer to dry and the "sensor" settings (more dry/less dry) quit working but the timed dry keeps working. After the second element burns out there will be no heat. Was a piece of cake to replace - most difficult part is stretching the coils correctly, I used a 2X4 with a couple of nails on the end and marked to the correct length. Even if you overdo it, you can somewhat recompress to get the length right. Whole job took me about 90 minutes. While you are inside the dryer replace the belt and check the drum glides, that's about $15 worth of parts that usually wear out after a few years and it's simple to replace them while you have the drum off.All told, instead of a $300 technician visit I rehabbed my dryer for 90 minutes of time, $40 in parts, and $5 worth of beer to congratulate myself after I finished.

I checked all the thermostats and controls for continuity and they were good. Pulled the drum out and immediately saw that ...
Dryer wasn't producing any heat. Of course Google and Youtube can teach anyone to diagnose and possibly fix something. I checked all the thermostats and controls for continuity and they were good. Pulled the drum out and immediately saw that both heating coils were burnt out and broken. This would explain for a while why my dryer wasn't drying as fast, since usually one coil will go, then eventually the second one will go. Instead of paying $80+ for the entire heating element assembly, I chose to buy this kit for only $33 with next day shipping. Everything went in just fine and worked great. Good quality and all original size. I chose to only give 4 stars, because they included both replacement coils, all 4 insulators, but only 6 of the 11 coil supports. Of my 11, I really wanted to replace at least 8 or 9, because as I was removing the reallly bad ones, they were literally falling to pieces. So now, I have all new stuff, but in the back of my mind, I will be worrying about 1 or 2 coil supports, hoping they done eventually fall to pieces. I dont know why they just didnt charge maybe $3-5 more and include all 11 coil support replacements. Nonetheless, my dryer is back up and working better than I can remember and it only cost me $33 and about 2 hours.

Great DIY help at a Great Price!
I am very happy with this product. It is OEM and came with everything pictured. This item was cheaper than other retailers not on Amazon and arrived in good time. I suggest carefully stretching out the coils after installing versus beforehand because during installation, you will stretch them unintentionally while threading them through the holders. The wires aren't too fragile, but fixing areas that get overstretched is hard to do. I had to remove both old coils and string the new ones. The entire process including replace 4 of the ceramic holders took about 15 minutes. My dryer works better than before and dries super fast. I haven't even used the settings above low heat now. This definitely helped me to repair my dryer for a tiny fraction of what it would have cost with a professional or in buying another dryer! Well worth it and your DIY time!

Hard install which was time consuming.
If you want to impress you significant other and save $$$ and you have up to a day to spend, this project is for you. But be warned the error margin is thin and these heating elements need to be installed as recommended. This is not a job you want to rush. Trust me. You can restore your dryer to full function if you are competent and can follow instructions. Trust me on this. I had to do this twice. Take your time and get it right the first time. and you will have maximum sanctification. Remember YouTube is you friend.

If you’re brave enough to take apart a dryer
The coils on my heating component had become brittle and broke apart. Saved a lot of money replacing with this kit myself! Dryer is now working great. For ease of install, I’d never worked on a dryer before so it was pretty simple considering I was novice armed only with youtube as a “how to guide”. If you are the type that doesn’t get too frustrated by assembling ikea furniture, and wont forget to unplug before taking the dryer apart, you can probably swing this.

Easy to install
Heater coil was simple to install, but only comes with a few insulators, so make sure you don’t lose the old ones. I had to replace two insulators that were previously damaged. Once the dryer was up and running, the drying time was incredibly shorten.
