Accurate and simple
After a few test runs at the fitness facility that I train at, I can say that this body fat caliper is as good as any. Of course, it's the user that determines how accurate the measurements are by his/her finesse with the tester, and this one does require a bit of finesse - getting the feel for the "click" that happens when the caliper "bottoms out" takes a bit of practice, but I'm sure anyone can get it figured out as easily as I did. Compared to the hand-held electronic measuring devices available, typically for about $35 or so, this is more accurate, I believe. I've consistently measures clients at about 2-3 percent lower than the electronic devices show. And since I've had experience with a BodPod (the MOST accurate body composition measuring device) and it consistently shows my own body fat lower than the handheld devices do, I like that the caliper always comes in lower as well. Definitely worth the few bucks to get. Just follow other's advice and ignore the instructions that come with it and use the 5 or 7 or 9 site instructions that are available on many sites online. Finally, if you are buying this to use professionally, I believe that it makes you look more professional. Actually pinching and measuring a client's body fat at 7 or 9 sites on his/her body and then doing the calculations takes some skill. Handing the client a $35 device that spits out a number doesn't take any skill - and they know it! PLUS, by getting the opportunity to really examine WHERE a client's body is holding fat stores, using the caliper, you gain valuable knowledge beyond numbers on a digital readout about just where the client is in their quest for health and weight loss. That's worth a lot. By all means, bet yourself an Accu-Measure. No regrets at all for me.

Affordable and Simple Body Fat Caliper for Basic Fitness Tracking
I purchased the Accu-Measure Fitness 3000 Body Fat Caliper to get a better sense of my body composition as I started a new fitness routine. I wanted an affordable, easy-to-use tool that would give me more insight than just weight alone. After using it for a couple of months, here’s my experience including pros, cons, and tips for anyone considering this caliper. How I Used It I used this caliper to take body fat measurements on myself every two weeks. The instructions guided me to pinch the skinfolds mainly at the triceps, belly, and thigh, which felt straightforward. I also compared my readings against some online calculators and fitness scales. The compact size makes it easy to carry and store, and the dial is clear enough to read quickly during my sessions. Pros Affordable and Accessible Compared to more advanced body composition tools, this caliper is very budget-friendly and ideal for anyone wanting basic tracking without expensive equipment. Simple to Use The design is straightforward. Once you learn the pinch points and how to hold the caliper properly, it is easy to get consistent readings. The dial clearly displays the measurements in percentage form. Lightweight and Portable The caliper is small and light, perfect for home use or carrying to the gym. It fits in a drawer or small bag without hassle. No Batteries Required Since it is mechanical, there are no batteries to replace or worry about, making it a hassle-free option. Cons Accuracy Depends on Technique The biggest drawback is that accuracy varies a lot based on how you measure. Pinching the skinfold incorrectly or inconsistently can lead to inaccurate readings, so practice and patience are necessary. Limited Measurement Sites This caliper works best with specific pinch points (triceps, belly, thigh) and doesn’t provide a full body fat analysis like professional devices. It’s best seen as a basic monitoring tool. Small Calibration Variations I noticed the dial can sometimes stick or give slightly fluctuating readings if not handled carefully. This requires double-checking for consistent results. Comparisons Compared to digital body fat scales, this caliper is more manual but provides physical measurement that some fitness enthusiasts prefer. Other calipers in the same price range may have less clear dials or bulkier designs. Professional-grade calipers cost much more but offer better accuracy and multiple measurement points. Tips for Buyers Watch tutorial videos on proper pinching technique to improve accuracy. Take measurements at the same time of day for consistent tracking. Use a mirror or have a partner help for better pinch accuracy, especially on hard-to-reach spots. Track results in a fitness journal or app to monitor progress over time. Who Should Buy This? This caliper is best for beginners or casual fitness enthusiasts looking for an affordable way to track body fat changes without investing in pricey tools. If you want rough estimates to motivate healthy habits, it works well. Overall, the Accu-Measure Fitness 3000 Body Fat Caliper is a practical, low-cost device for basic body fat tracking. While it requires careful use to get reliable data, it offers a simple, portable solution for fitness monitoring at home or on the go.

Not sure it's accurate
I don't know how accurate this is. When I take all of my measurements and plug it into a calculator it says I'm between 7 and 9% body fat depending on how many pinch points I'm using. There's absolutely no way I'm that lean. Based on photos, vascularity, muscle striations, I MIGHT be as low as 13%. My styku body scan (those can be wildly inaccurate to begin with) said I'm 18.2% body fat. So one of these things is better used to gauge progress instead of getting an actual number in my opinion.

Simple and accurate for home use
Not sure why people are complaining about how flimsy or impossible it is to get a measurement with this device. It is the same caliper used by health professionals for decades and the guide explains exactly how to use it. I assume their real reason is that they were either too obese to use it (you need to use tape measurements, not calipers) or thought they could return it after a single use but found out you can't for hygienic reasons so they gave it a one star out of spite. Anyway, I personally purchased this to compare the BF% that my Galaxy watch measures me at which I believed to be inaccurate. Sure enough, it was by 3-4%. It works. Plain and simple. Watch a few YouTube videos on how to get the most accurate body measurements with the device and you'll be good to go.

Where is the adult version of this? They sent me a kids toy
Why does this device have inches on it? And why doesn’t it have markings on both sides? I’m pretty sure I can guess body fat percentage more accurately by pinching with my fingers than this device as it relates to me having to stare at the tiny hash marks and numbers on an already miniature device. I had no idea that this device would be smaller than my hand...I realize that these skin fold readings are more about measuring progress, assuming you are able to obtain some level of proficiency and consistency with said device; however, pinching fat with one hand and then to be gentle as to not completely destroy this tiny, fragile device with my other hand is so comical, all the while attempting to ready hashmarks and numbers that are barely visible to the human eye, I can’t understand how this was a recommended product. Who recommended this thing? I found better quality products out of the Perkins wishing well when I was a kid than this thing. Total waste of money and time since now I have to probably order or go shopping for an adult version of this toy. At least my 5 year old can pretend or practice to be a personal trainer, but she probably doesn’t have the dexterity to keep from crushing this fragile device in her tiny hand.

Excellent Product for the Money
My first reaction was "This plastic thingy-a-jigamus will accurately measure my body fat?" In a nutshell, the answer is YES. In fact, at work we have a health and fitness coach. She has a two-thousand dollar Tanita bio-electric impedance scale. The difference between her scale and this plastic tool is amazing. The deviation is within 2%. Just practice using it and you will be just fine. When I first used it the average difference between three readings is 2 to 4 mm. Once I got used to it, my readings were consistenly on the money, and I was able to accurately get the same reading even the following day. Next to a pistol and a rifle (I'm a staunch Second Amendment and US Constitution supporter), I would say this is a must have in every household - especially if you are a bodybuilder, or just want to track your weight (or I should say fat) loss. ************************************************************************ Updated April 2, 2008. Okay. I've been using this thing for over a month now. Just wanted to let you know that I have been consistently losing fat, and that the readings between this tool and the $2000 electric scale is still within 2% deviation. The key is consistency. As long as your readings are consistent, you can be rest assured that you will know whether your body is losing fat, muscle, or both. Again, it's a great tool to have. ********************************************************************** Update April 3, 2009 Hello again! It's been over a year. I decided to buy another one because the old one is losing the "click" when I measure. What do you expect? It's plastic, and plastic - just like with any other solid material - will deteriorate in time due to friction. Anyway, I am still giving the accu-measure a 5 star. For the price ($6.95 w/ free shipping as of this writing) you cannot go wrong. In retrospect, I probably should have bought more than 2 while they are still in sale.

Best for Lower Bodyfat Percentages
Plastic body fat calipers (skinfold calipers) are budget-friendly tools effective for tracking relative changes in body composition over time, but they have limitations in absolute accuracy at extreme body fat percentages (love handles, muffin tops, etc). They are generally better suited for average to lower body fat levels rather than very high percentages where pinching becomes difficult, or extremely low percentages where measurement precision is key.

Accumeasure is a simple and effective device to measure fat thickness
The product is accurate and simple to use. You may use online calculators instead of the charts provided to measure the body fat percentage. Please check this link ([...]). In addition, if you are interested in measuring subcutaneous fat thickness of a particular location instead of knowing the body fat percentage. You could simply divide the measured thickness by caliper by two and then subtract epidermis thickness (typically ~ 0.1 mm).

Buono
