Great if your vehicle does not have a built in navigation unit.
I purchased this mirror mount for my Escort 9500IX. I was tired of my suction cup mount continually falling off my windshield. Initially I found the blendmount offered on the escort website, but I just could not bring myself to dish out the 90 or so bucks for it. I figured I would give this a shot and try to save some dough.Install went fairly quickly, it is a little awkward to get everything in place and tightened down so the detector sat exactly where I wanted it but with a little persistence and 15 minutes of my time its in. It looks great, and is a nice sturdy mount. I tightened everything down tight and added a drop of wicking loc-tite to all the fasteners to prevent them from loosening. One downside to this mount compared to the blendmout is the bracket that attaches to the mirror post is bare metal with grooves cut in it to grab the post when tightened down. Since I fought with its placement a few times I noticed the the mirror post is all scratched up. Not a huge deal since you don't see it anyway, but I may go back and touch it up with some paint. I am kind of anal like that. I completed the install with a direct wire kit so it is hardwired dirctly to the fuse box making for a very clean looking install. Almost looks factory. After several days of driving the mount is very secure. I have not experience any dropping or lowering of the detector, or any rattling that many have complained of. It came with a bracket that slid directly into my detector and locked it in firmly. I believe this bracket just starting coming with the mount in the last 6 months or so.So all in all I am very pleased with my purchase of the mount and glad I saved some money. If you are installing this on a vehicle without a nav unit then I completely recommend it.Now to the downside of a mirror mount when you have a navigation system. Keep in mind this problem will most likely exist with any brand mirror mount, not just the one being reviewed. I installed my mirror mount on my Infiniti G35. When I turn on the radar detector I get almost constant false laser signals. The placement of the detector under the mirror is just above and slightly behind the nav screen. After doing some research it seems the nav screens have some electrical interference that the detector picks up when it is near the screen. When my detector was installed lower on my windsheild I did not have the problem. I tried adjusting the mount to move the detector as close to the windshield as I could but it did not help. If you search "mirror mount false laser signals" you will see this is a very common problem. Some people swear that a small piece of electrical tape on the very bottom portion of the radar lens stopped false signals for them, however it did not make a difference in my application. Escort radar offers a service where if you want to pay them they will somehow desensitise the detector so it will not pick up the false laser signals from a nav unit. I feel I have given them enough of my money already. My fix so far has just been to go into the detector settings and turn off my laser detection. Not ideal but atleast I have some protection. Besides the only time I got an actual laser signal all the detector let me know is that I was getting a ticket before I even saw the police car.I would suggest if you are considering a mirror mount installation on vehicle with a nav system would be to start up the car and place the detector under the mirror and see how your detector reacts before you purchase a mirror mount.

THIS is what I needed!!
I just received this mirror mount yesterday afternoon ( 3-12-2015) It took 5 minutes to install my Bel Rx65 on a 2015 Toyota Corolla S. I direct wired the detector using the wire/fuse kit from Best Buy for $7.00 ( it rang up in store for that price, not quite sure how) ant tapped into the map light electrical. The only downside for some people with the map light, it provides constant current. Detector gets power even when car is turned off. This doesn't affect me because I ALWAYS take the detector down when parked. Don't want to come out to a broken window and a missing detector! Lol. Install of the moubt was pretty self explanatory. It comes with a small Allen wrench. I found the wrench to be too small for me so I used my own long handle "T" Allen wrench. Be advised, this mount does NOT come with instructions. However, the package provides a web address that provides instruction. I'll be honest, being the Pollock that I am, I never read directions lol. I know that it's only been 1 day, but I'm totally impressed with this mount!!! I live in Michigan, Metro Detroit area. Anyone that lives in Michigan or has driven through the state knows how bad our roads are! Some of the worst in the Country. Potholes that will almost swallow your car lol. Even with these bumpy roads, the mount holds the radar detector solid as a rock! This thing is awesome!****QUICK UPDATE 3-23-2015**** This thing is still steady as a rock. ONE problem, and it's NOT the mirror mounts fault....I windshield mounted my cellphone (Motorola X 2nd Generation using a "Easy Installable Car Phone windshield mount" by Pamalo, purchased here on Amazon. Yesterday, I got around to installing the phone mount and hiding the charging wire etc. Looks beautiful. I go out last night and my Bel Rx-65 is going off with Laser alert like crazy!! Every 10-20 seconds it would go off. So, I get to thinking, what could be causing this? Only 2 things changed recently, the windshield mount and the charging cord attached to the quick charge 2.0 VPC adapter. first thing I tried was unplug charger, still alerting to laser. only other thing left, the phone mount. I took phone down, put it on seat and the laser alerts stopped. not one alert in 25 minutes of driving and none this morning. I googled the issue, and sure enough, some radar detectors have this problem! I'm going to play with the placement of the phone mount and maybe turn the mirror mount slightly off center, pointing a hair towards the passenger side of car. I'm a little annoyed because if I do have to move windshield mount, I'll have to pulI panels off, cut the zip ties I used etc. I will report back with my findings.****New update 3-25-2015****Just a quick update, I moved my cellphone with Dow mount to the very top left corner of my windshield and I did NOT touch the mirror mount at all...no more laser alerts! :) I used to have the cellphone mount on very left side of windshield about the half way point between top and bottom of windshield. The phone is about 2-3 inches back from the detector. Looks like that's all that was needed. I hope my experience helped someone.

good mount
I bought this for my toyota FJ cruiser lol, yeah i know, it's just a truck but sometimes you lose track of how fast you're going. But anyways, this mount looks very mechanical, ball joint type to adjust angles. The thing i like about the kit is it comes with wrenches to turn the knobs that allow angle adjustment and it comes with a hex wrench to tighten the rest of the screws. Everything you need is right there to install it. The toyota mirror mount is a flat rectangular shape instead of round shape, so this mount works ok, but I did wrap it with electrical tape as the ridges on the aluminum mounting hardware scratches the mirror mount and the tape seems to give it a little extra to bite on. The weird shape of the front windshield which is nearly flat makes the mount not work as it is. I was able to get this all working by flattening the clip with a hammer lol, and bending it near the edge where it clips into the detector giving it just enough space to mount under the mirror. I'll try to post a picture if I can later, but it's perfect now. Buy the hardwire kit and this kit is perfect. Anyways, I got it to work with a little creativity so it's all good. Drove around with it today and it was on solid. One draw back was that I can't adjust the mirror much now as the bracket is near the mirror swivel so before you tighten the mount to the mirror, adjust your mirror. for those that share their car, this mount might not work well if you need to adjust the mirror often. But I adjusted the mirror to my liking before I tightened and it's where I want it, so all is good for me. But hint to the manufacturers, get a half inch longer clip, or half inch longer center piece where the swivel balls are tightened, this will give cars like mine the clearance it needs.
