Good product but not great
Very confusing instructions. Changed all my settings and could not get it to work correctly. I had a hard time changing my settings back to default.Gave it to my daughter who is a little smarter than I am.

Doesn't work, contacted customer service, they were not helpful. No matter what I did, I could not find a way to make this work. Tried both the drivers automatically installed when plugged in, as well as those provided with the disc.

Didn't do its job
I got this a long time ago to use with a 5.1 sound system and I followed the instructions completely but could not for the life of me get the thing to work right. Maybe mine was defective but it was not worth the money IMO.

5.1
The sound quality is not as good as it use to be with the $100 sound card but for the price and ease it works well.

this was a great device, even though the cord is messed up
this was a great device, even though the cord is messed up, it still works fine and creates a beautiful surround sound. (windows 8.1)

Great Little Unit
I purchased this a long time ago so my sister's Thinkpad could dish out music in 5.1 on the Logitech system I got her. While in some cases it is not true surround sound it still split the sound into the proper channels providing a surrounded experience.Long story short I had it sitting on my shelf and completely forgot I purchased it until my Dell Vostro's internal stereo jack crapped out on me. (Was happening slowly so I should have been prepared but it slipped my mind until it was too late). Unfortunately for this laptop I can't simply swap the jack but would have had to change the whole mobo. While shopping on amazon for an external sound card I spotted it and remembered I already had one! Popped it in, installed automatically on XP and was ready to use in mere seconds just as smoothly as when I initially purchased it. This little unit truly saved the day as now not only do I not have to order another unit and go the rest of the week and weekend without any sound but no longer do I have to tweak the wire in the jack to reinstate both ear channels or use postal tape in a ghetto fashion to secure the cable in a non-nuisance position on my laptop as I had been putting up with as my jack slowly got worse and worse. I am starting to become a firm believer in USB sound. It holds the cord much more securely and seems to provide clearer/better overall sound. The only cons I can think of is that it doesn't seem to like those stereo extension cables. Sounded perfect when I removed mine which I was using for awhile to improve my failing jack issue. Not sure how well it would work with a USB extension. The other would be the incessant flashing of the red light on the unit when audio is playing through it. Finally the little rubber ball grips on the bottom covering the screws do come loose and get lost so plan on re-securing them using a teeny bit of super glue ahead of time. All in all this thing was well worth the money which I don't have the pleasure of saying too often. Saved me downtime and having to replace my motherboard for a long time!
