Stainless Steel Mortar and Pestle | Spice Grinder | Molcajete

I thought it was a good price for a stainless steel Mortar and Pestle. I had excitedly opened the package and washed the mortar and pestle for my first use. I was very disappointed to see that the pestle was leaving rust marks after the very first wash. Complete misrepresentation! It is a cheap chrome on cheap metal. It is NOT stainless steel. I bought it a couple of days ago, and I have just processed the online return.

This is smallish but is real solid steel unlike most larger "steel" mortars and pestles out there. It's already pretty heavy even though it's barely palm-sized. It does one thing and does it well. Like most solid metal mortars out there, it's meant for crushing, and can easily crush rock-hard ingredients into a fine grit/coarse powder. It's not meant for grinding things into a really fine powder or paste however, as the mortar/pestle surfaces are flat and doesn't work with a rotating motion as you would with stone/porcelain mortars. There are imperfections like small dents/cavities on the pestle and on the bottom of the mortar but I wouldn't complain for the price. Also it hasn't rusted in air so far but rusts easily when wet, so be sure to store it dry.

This is way better than a stone or porcelain mortar & pestel. I use mine to crush pills, which is no problem for this heavy pestel. The mortar is equally heavy, and it's flat bottom & smooth sides prevent residual buildup on either. There's one thing that prevented me from leaving a 5th star, and that's the finish.There's a ding on the pestel from forging, butIit has zero effect on its function. For me, this is a tool that I use every day.Its not a not a tchotchke that i use as a decoration, in my kitchen or my bathroom.

The media could not be loaded. It has become rusty within a month of usage. Any droplet of water will lead to rusty residue. Not a good buy. I cannot even return it now.

Honestly my opinion to this pestle is positive, as compared to other heavy/large pestle, this works great and perfect to grind garlic and other paste. It’s very handy and easy to use and does its work perfectly.

I washed it with water and placed it upside down to dry and it rusted immediately. False advertising.

Product has been rusting since first wash.

It feels but light weight
