I was prescribed one of the custom foot braces for my drop foot condition, and wore it as I was supposed to, but it always rubbed and hurt the top side part of my foot where the brace curved over it. My doctor told me about these KonMed soft braces so I found them on Amazon and ordered one. It had been such a welcome relief to wear this, with no pain and my foot no longer swells. I will probably be ordering another just to have as a back-up, as I never want to go back to the "custom" carbon fiber monstrosity.I have read where people have complained about the wearing out of the strap that attaches to the shoe. Well, for anyone that has ever used Velcro straps very much, you learn that they wear out eventually. I already had some commercial grade Velcro straps that I use for tying our bicycles down to a bike rack. I was able to substitute one of these and it work perfectly. Actually, it works even a bit better as the Velsro grip is better on these straps.

I used this brace on a couple of patients who either could not afford a custom AFO or were going to have to wait months for one to be made. It does a great job for people who do not have a lot of spasticity or who have some dorsiflexion function but who are too weak to keep their foot from dragging. The Velcro does stretch over time and can wear out, but it has made a big difference for the people I have tried it with, allowing them to walk safely when they could not otherwise do so, especially for the price. I would recommend it for patients who do not have spasticity in their lower leg.

I have a drop foot issue and had a metal orthotic that fit under the insole of my shoe. It worked, but my foot always hurt after wearing. This support is great. It relieved my drop foot without pain. The key is getting the support band tight. I suggest putting the support strap under your shoelaces before putting the shoe on. That makes it easier to adjust the tightness. I highly recommend this product.
