Let's be honest...
I realize that when it comes to "taste", this is a very individual thing and difficult to figure out based on reviews. With that said, I'd like to share my experience with the chocolate mocha flavored MRM Veggie Elite. The first thing I should mention is that this definitely has texture with whatever your liquid of choice may be. If you are familiar, whey protein will blend into a silky, smooth kind of consistency with the right liquid. The Veggie Elite is not silky. In my opinion, most plant based protein powders are not. Luckily, it blends to the same consistency with skim milk, 1% milk, 2% milk, whole milk, soy milk, cashew milk, almond milk, water, and orange juice (those are the only things I've tried) in your standard blender ball shaker. The rest of this review is simply my usage. This is my go to protein and is mixed with EVERY different type and flavor of protein powder I use. To extrapolate, I use a plant based vanilla, planted based vanilla lacuma, whey chocolate, whey peanut butter, and a whey cookies and cream. To each of those, I add the chocolate mocha to make them taste better and to me, most of them are fine on their own. Of course, the chocolate mocha gets used as is. Just to clarify, I don't mix any of the other flavors together. I use so many different kinds of protein to give my body a wider variety of nutrition as I will typically drink 1 or 2 shakes a day. Additionally, every shake gets ground chai and ground flax. Various amounts of hemp powder and/or ground pumpkin and/or powdered greens may get thrown in also. All of these ingredients makes my shakes quite gritty but still blend easily with a blender ball although I wouldn't drink any of them without the veggie elite chocolate mocha. Truly for me, the taste of it is what makes it possible for me. If I buy a flavor of powder that I don't like, I simply add this chocolate mocha and I can finish the container. I go through so much of this stuff so fast that I decided to add this as a subscribe and save item and that's how I came to write this review. I actually didn't read any reviews before trying this product. It was #1 for best tasting vegan protein on the body building .com website, so that's how I discovered this gem!

At last a decent tasting protein supplement for vegans
After doing some online research I purchased this for my teenage daughter who is a vegan and wasn't getting enough protein in her diet. She had tried some other vegetarian protein supplements but couldn't choke them down. This one she likes and drinks regularly. She mixes one scoop with a cup of unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened coconut milk and then blends it with ice cubes. I tried it and found it to be a little chalky in consistency but the taste was pretty decent. For those reviewers that found it too sweet I would recommend trying it with unsweetened almond or coconut milk as the powder is filled with cocoa and stevia to mask the taste of pea protein (which is disgusting if you haven't ever tried it plain). I have a pretty sensitive stomach and milk and soy products kill my stomach but this didn't bother me at all possibly because of the vegan enzyme blend. I will leave it to you to do your own analysis of whether or not this supplement contains all the protein and vitamins you need but for my daughter the mix of pea protein and rice protein appears to balance out to provide a good ratio of essential amino acids (complete protein) and the deal maker was that two scoops per day provides almost all the iron she needs but doesn't seem to upset her stomach like the iron pills. Any other deficits can be easily filled in with pills (multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, and omega-3). Deva makes vegan versions of all of these. (Please note that I am a physician but this review does not constitute medical advice).

Don't be confused by the conflicting advice in these reviews!!!!
Ok, so you're reading the product reviews trying to figure out if this powder is disgusting or delicious. You are conflicted. Some people say that it is LITERALLY UNDRINKABLE, while others say that it's THE BEST PROTEIN POWDER THEY'VE EVER TASTED. I came into this purchase with very, very low expectations. First of all, I hate mocha flavored things. Second of all, I HATED the Vega sport performance protein (chocolate flavor), because I could taste the beany-ness of it, and the texture and smell were revolting (also, it started to separate within 2 minutes of mixing. Gross). I bought this powder because Whey protein powders really really upset my stomach, even though some of them are delicious. All of that aside, here's what I have to say: This protein powder is fing delicious. Holy mackeral. I was so surprised that I liked it, I was honestly expecting that I'd have to add bananas and peanut butter and soy milk to make it palletable. I tried it with plain, cold water in a shaker bottle. It's awesome! The mocha flavor is very very subtle, and the chocolate flavor is really rich and creamy. It's pretty sweet, but no sweeter than a milkshake, so if you're one of those reviewers complaining about how "unbearably sweet it is", you need to understand that they're TRYING to make this taste like a yummy, creamy milkshake. And even when mixed with plain water, IT DOES!!!!!! The texture is great. It has a little grain to it, but it absolutely is not offensive or overpowering. I'm going to try mixing it with some soy milk tomorrow and see how that tastes. If you're worried about which protein powder to buy, BUY THIS ONE!! Seriously. It's cheap, delicious, and the macros stack up great against Whey protein powders. Do not be afraid! Take the plunge!! You'll love it (and if not, mix in a bunch of other crap until it tastes good, and buy something else next time). IN the end, your taste buds are unique, so you have to try it to know if you'll like it or not.

Good but sodium is on the high side.
I do like the taste and other health benefits. There is just one flaw, sodium. If you have high blood pressure and are limiting your sodium intake to 1000mg a day 2 scoops will get to that number in no time. Just watch you sodium intake. If you don't have to watch your sodium then this is fine.

Passed the taste test!
This stuff is really good! I've never tried vegan protein before and was a little nervous that they would all taste disgusting. However, whey protein gives me really painful stomach cramps when I consume it and I was tired of dealing with that for the sake of my post workout shake. After doing some research I decided to give this plant based protein a try. I have to say that the chocolate mocha flavor is actually pretty tasty. I found it very palatable even just mixed with water, but very creamy and tasty when mixed in cashew milk. The best part... no more tummy trouble! I will definitely be repurchasing! UPDATE: I have tried all 3 flavors of this protein powder and here's what I think... chocolate is delicious. The first time you have it you won't think so, but the flavor really grows on you; I love it. Not to sweet. Vanilla tastes like the old school weight watchers shakes if you had those back in the 90's. I'd say just ok. The cinnamon bun I wasn't a huge fan of. Took me 4 times as long to use up then the chocolate would have. Overall, this vegan protein still has the best macros I can find (and I've looked). Do yourself a favor and stick with the chocolate flavor!

Inconsistent
I'm not exactly sure how to review this stuff as I have ordered it twice now and each order tasted completely different. As far as I can tell, there hasn't been any formula change, I'm just writing it off as being from different batches. The problem is that I don't know which batch was "off" so there's no way to guess what I would get if I ordered it a third time. My first canister was delicious. As so many others have said, the best protein powder I've ever had. My second is gross. I honestly DO have to force myself to drink it. There is a strange, chemical nuttiness that wasn't present in the first go round. I may switch back to my old brand, which was unfortunately much more expensive, because it's worth the price to get a consistent product. Also, in both canisters of MRM Veggie Elite that I got the scoop was BURIED near the very bottom. I had an old scoop that I used instead but there was no way to dig out the one that came with the MRM without making a huge mess. It seemed much deeper down than I would expect from shipping but who knows. When I finally did get it free I found that the handle was teeny tiny and I had to put my whole arm in the can to scoop the product at the very bottom so I ended up sticking with my old scoop anyway. Something to keep in mind if you order, hang on to your old scoop just in case.

So Delicious!!!
My husband has been on a mission to get me to use protein powder for years. He's tried making me shakes and mixing protein powder in with pancakes and I just could never tolerate it...the chalky, bland, fake flavor disgusted me. That is until he found this stuff. You see, I am 4 months post-partum and recently signed up for a fitness challenge that requires a certain amount of protein intake per day. My husband convinced me one shake a day would help, so I gave it a try. We picked this particular brand because our daughter has a terrible reaction when I eat dairy or soy and it gets into my breastmilk. This is free of both :) The first shake I made I used 8 oz of almond milk and a scoop of the chocolate protein. It was SO chocolate and pretty grainy. I dumped it in the blender and added 6 ice cubes and a cup of strawberries and holy cow! It is the best protein shake I've ever had. I could only taste the fruit a little and the chocolate flavor was perfect! I tried it again, but with a banana instead of strawberries and it was so creamy! I literally look forward to having a protein shake now. I also want to add that people rave about Shakeology and going off taste alone, I think this protein powder is so much better! I know that stuff is packed with other super foods, but this stuff has more protein per serving and is $115 cheaper per month. I will definitely be buying this again!!!

Like trying to swallow sand. Worst veg protein powder ever.
I tried preparing this protein powder several different ways - blended with water, with soymilk, with almond-coconut milk, with lots of ice, letting it sit blended with double the amount of water in the refrigerator overnight to hopefully hydrate it... Nothing I've done makes this powder even remotely edible/drinkable. It is like trying to drink sandy water, no matter what I do to it. It feels like scratchy, grating, hard, pasty, chalky particles scraping down your throat when you drink it, no matter how diluted it is. I have IBD (ulcerative colitis) and found that trying to live off of whey based protein powder during a flareup was unsustainable, as it broke me out horribly, made my stomach ache and messed with my hormones. Also...cow milk is gross. So I tried the pre-mixed Vega+ and it was pretty good, not the best flavor but relatively palatable and pretty smooth. Plus it didn't make me break out and feel worse. However, Vega+ is expensive (like most higher-end protein drinks whether vegan or whey), so I wanted to try an alternative to save some money. This powder is NOT it. I have to believe that the positive reviews for this powder are either fake, or these people have the weirdest, most tolerant palates on the planet and regularly chew on bentonite clay for fun. I love really hearty, rough, chewy, funky and bitter things like long-fermented sour whole grains, natto, kimchi, wood ear mushrooms, etc. but I absolutely cannot drink this horrible sand water!
