This is erotic romance at its finest all wrapped up in suspense as three people make an emotional journey of discovery about each other and themselves. It is also about the power of love to move people beyond their fears and prejudices, the value of authentic friendship as a circle of support, and the absolute necessity of honesty in any lasting relationship. There is grieving and disappointment, fear and faithful caring, dark desires and the enlightenment of true loving--all make their appearance here and enrich the story as do important ingredients in any mixture. There is also the struggle of owning up to one's true sexuality and honest expression who one is. This is not your boy-meets-girl-and-they-live-happily-ever-after kind of novel. This is gritty and edgy, down to earth and full of raw emotion. There's lots of sex but that's the nature of erotica. There's a real story here and one that will engage the mind and grab the emotions. I couldn't wait to read the next books in the series. Just one terrific read!!

This is the first book I have read of Ms. Rylon's and I was not disappointed. First of all who can resist men in uniform and especially if they are sexy as well. I love the MMF genre and this one had a very believable story behind it as well. I am a mystery buff as well as a romance junkie so this one was a fun read for me. Getting the best of both worlds. I had the villain pegged right away but then she threw in a few little twists that made me doubt myself for a moment, but just for a moment. I loved the character development as well. Mason was a really sad but honorable guy who doubted who he was because of his upbringing and beautiful Tyler was just that. He had a loving understanding family and then there was Lacey. Poor darling just kept losing everyone she loved and felt so abandoned because she had loved these guys all of her life. I liked how the story was developed and yes it was a little rushed into but they had been friends since childhood so I guess not so much. I am giving this a 4.5 stars only because I wish we had been introduced to her brother before he was murdered. I think it would have helped the whole story. That being said, it was a good book and I will definitely will be reading more of her work. Check it out.

This book was incredibly good, with loss, lust and love at the fore-front, followed by amazing drama, action, and a didn't-see-it-coming ending to tie it up, I couldn't put this one down! Lacey Doughtry is deeply pummeled by the news that the brother she loves more than life itself has died in the line of service. If it weren't for their best friends, Mason and Tyler, Lacey would never have survived the ordeal. Finally able to divulge her crush for both men, the three are attempting to put feelings into a box that society will accept while still denying full-feelings disclosure to each other. With secrets still holding them back from true happiness all hell will rain down on the three if they can't deal with the truth of their relationship before madness comes calling. As fellow officers and best friends do all they can for their fallen comrades little sister, both Tyler and Mason will have to accept the feelings both have for Lacey before secrets destroy them all. Both have lusted for the petite sweetheart since she was a teenager but devotion to Rob has kept them from acting on it. Now, Lacey is the guiding light that can bring them all into focus if they can accept what their hearts have wanted for years. But with each passing day that brings them closer together, it seems there is something sinister determined to destroy them all.

REVIEWER'S OPINION: Most of the story is about the ménage a trois relationship of Mason, Tyler and Lacey. The sex scenes are arousing and very good. To like this, you need to be comfortable with gay men sex. There is a lot of rear door activity plus a little bondage and pain. The purpose of the book is erotic sex which it does well. Don't expect a fully fleshed out suspense story. However, the story is good enough to add some emotional elements and background for the relationships. Most of the mystery and suspense story is told in the last four chapters. It is told after the fact rather than shown. It would have been better to "show" characters' thoughts, motives and actions during events happening in the past. This was nineteen chapters developing a relationship and sex, and then all of a sudden we need to tell a story and resolve it in order to finish the book. I had problems with some of the bad guys' motives and actions. I was confused. I had unanswered questions at the end. But that's ok, because this is an erotic book. I'm trying not to hold it to other standards. Just letting you know what's not there. I had a minor problem with dialogue. The pet name "little one" might have been ok but it was overused. And frequently calling out "love you" during sex seemed a little off. For more than half the book, my feelings were 4 stars. But after I finished it, they dropped due to plot weaknesses. STORY BRIEF: Rob is Lacey's older brother. Their parents died in a car crash years ago. Rob, Mason and Tyler have been best friends for years. They are cops. Mason and Tyler like sharing a woman and also like sex with each other. Rob asked them to stay away from his sister Lacey, so they did. But they have always desired her, and she has desired them. The story begins with Rob being killed. Mason and Tyler comfort Lacey. Their comfort turns into sex at Lacey's request. The cops are investigating Rob's death as well as someone who has begun threatening Lacey. DATA: Story length: 253 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. This sort is amazing, I thought I had the plot figured out but I was so wrong and the love I felt from the main characters was strong this is the first book from this author I will be buying the rest of her books

My Review: This is a hot, full-length erotic read. It is also a pretty decent suspense novel. For me, though, the appeal of the novel came from the relationship between these three. Mason and Tyler have been best friends for ages. They have also been lovers, but no one realizes that besides them. They were brought together through their mutual love for Lacey, but as the younger sister as one of their other friends, it was a hands-off policy for her. But when her older brother is murdered, Lacey needs the comfort from his and her friends and these guys step up. The issue is...they think that Lacey is an innocent and want to keep it that way. They don't want to expose her to their wild ways, so the guys break off their romance so that Tyler can romance Lacey. They don't realize that her fantasies and emotions fully involve BOTH of them. In the midst of all that complication is the search for Rob's murderer and a prisoner up for parole who is making Lacey's life miserable. That's where the suspense comes in....and it was entertaining, if not quite as good on the suspense as I hoped. That was probably what knocked the rating down the most on this book. The suspense just didn't quite live up to what I'd hoped. But overall, this was a HIGHLY entertaining and erotic read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am so glad that I already have books #2 and #3 on my Kindle waiting for me to find time to read them. I promise that will happen SOON!!!

Jane Rylon's "Night is Darkest" is a perfect triad love story. Mason, Tyler, and Lacey were all made for the other and Rob would have been very pleased. I was sad that so many lost their lives for no good reason. Long live the Men in Blue!!

This is one book that you need to have tissues near by, there are multiple places throughout this story that brought me to tears. In this story there is a MMF relationship, which means there are bi-sexual as well as homosexual situations and situations that are brought up with that kind of realtionship. I loved that this story was also a murder mystery and not just an erotica novel. With that said I am giving this a 4 out of 5 stars. This book can get a little confusing and seems to be missing just a little something to make this story flow completely. On the pepper scale this book is one that I have to rate as a Ghost Pepper because the scenes that have explict content are far from docile and have some very kinky aspects. This story will not be for everyone because of the bi-sexuality and a threesome realationship. However if you like some kink, mystery and explict scenes this is one book that you should try out! Beware there are trigger warnings for this book. I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome!

I loved that I couldn't put down the book till I got to know who was behind all the hoopla going on...wow. The author maintained the suspense till the final chapter. Awesome writing and tight editing makes it a great read. Will be grabbing the next book In the series ASAP😉

Why haven't I read this book before? Loved, loved. loved it!! The story is a mystery but the focus is on the relationship and interactions of the three leads, Lacey, Mason and Tyler. The boys have known Lacey their whole life due to their best-friendship with her brother, and when she was of age, he asked them to leave her alone, so they did. That didn't stop their budding relationship together and now they have to figure out what they have and how to fit Lacey into the mix. Lacey and Mason have some tragic incidents in their past to work through and Tyler won't speak up for himself, so it takes a bit to get through it all, but what a hot ride it is as they work through things in the bedroom, in the kitchen, in the water, .... you get the idea!!!!!

This book was hard to put down the plot was good offering up unexpected twists. Will look for more by this author

I honestly didn't know what to expect with this book. I really didn't. I downloaded it based on the single review on here. It was a different genre than what I am used to but being open-minded I thought what the hell. I was glad I did. Ty and Mason are cops. They are also in a relationship (Ty being the more comfortable of the two about it - more of that in a bit). They live and work together and have been friends with Lacey since they where children. After the death of Lacey's brother Rob (Ty & Mason's work mate and best friend) two of them (Ty and Lacey) find solace with each other. What follows is the gradual realisation and acceptance that their's isn't going to be a stereotypical relationship; Ty, Mason and Lacey all love each other very much. Their love story runs parallel to the hunt for Rob's murder and the realisation that the course of their lives has always been intertwined. Mason is probably one of the most tortured souls I've read about, his acceptance and fight against his own sexuality and love for the other two is so wonderfully written. I think he was possibly my favourite character in the whole story. Yep there is sex. All which ways. Can't be avoided so if you are easily offended don't buy this book...hell buy it anyway, it's not sordid or crudely written but it is graphic. To be honest the front cover pretty much sums up what your getting. And if this sounds like a heavy read it isn't. There is humour running through it too. Half way through the book I realised this was part of a series of 3 - this being the first. I honestly based on this book alone will download the other two. The characters from those books Razor and JRad are introduced here though. Good wonderful read :)
