Amelia Bedelia's First Valentine

I picked this book out for my husband and I to give to our 4 year old daughter for valentines day. It was a great choice because Amelia Bedelia makes her friends vday cards, but forgets them on the bus. Shes sad at school, but then remember her mom gave her a new deck of cards (they are in her bookbag), so she turns those cards into vday cards, so everything works out there, they have a vday party at school, she rides the bus home and when she gets off, a boy shoots his arrow it falls on her heart shaped box of candies. This is like cupids arrow that amelia bedelia's dad was talking about earlier in the book. The reader finds out the boy missed school and the vday party so he got no valentines, so amelia gives him hers. he blows her a kiss and she thinks, yuck, i don't love him, but there is no reason not to like him. I thought that was cute. Anyway, amelia goes home and with mom gives dad candies, mom gets flowers, and amelia gets a bracelet from daddy....really her first valentines. I thought very sweet book for dad and daughter to share for preschool and kindergarten aged children that are really starting to understand what vday is. The ending hits home with our family because they have a group hug. Great book. It is hardback, cute pictures, they are busy pictures, lots of things to point out, could be overwhelming for children that can't sit still too long. Fortunatley, mine will already sit through "wordy" books like this and alexander the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. you know long, lots of writing, kind of books, another being gruffalo, chance of meatballs, ummm ladybug girl and bumblebee boy, you get it....anyway....5 star purchase for our book loving family.

This is a fun children’s book.

Got this book for my niece for Valentine’s Day. She loved the story. One of the cheapest Valentine’s Day books I could find but it was awesome to say the least.

We are a big fan of Amelia Bedelia. She is always so kind and thoughtful. Great Valentine book.

My granddaughter was able to read this book easily

I recently purchased the book for my sweet 4 year old neighbor... her mom said she absolutely loved it and wanted to bring it to school so all of her friends could hear the story too. Her mom texted the teacher and she agreed... she sent me a picture of her proudly walking in with this book. LOL Who knew Amelia Bedelia is still making children as happy as she did when I was a kid!

My soon to be 5 yr old granddaughter loves Amelia Bedelia books. We love reading them together, and it is a joy to hear my granddaughter laugh out loud at Amelia Bedelia's antics. I plan on purchasing every book I can find about this character.
